UCLA beat Rice 63-21. :) Drew Olson actually looked competent at QB and the Bruins gained 478 yards in just the first half.

plz take it easy on us next week

I'm completely freaked out about Peterson, not confident about our young DL.

Dont worry about our offense. As long as you are reasonably talented/big, just stack 8 or 9 men in the box and you'll be fine. We didnt have one pass attempt in the second half yesterday.

Wow. Now I think I'll be pissed if we lose.

Silly Notre Dame fans calling for the head of statistically one of the worst coaches in Notre Dame history. We have such high expectations!

What I don't get is why people say Ty was forced out. He forced himself out by losing. Any football program who has a coach that is not meeting their expectations should fire him. Why settle with mediocrity? Nebraska fired Solich after winning 9 games, and there wasn't near the outcry as when ND fired Ty, after having two straight seasons without winning more than 6 games. Ty was a terrible coach, which Washington is now learning.

However he has a real low handicap on the golf course.

Not only that, but what people fail to realize is that TY is the one who bargained for the buyout clause in his contract. The reason he got less time than every other ND coach is because this is the first coach ND could have fired without paying out his contract. ND didn't break Ty's contract. They exercised an option of the contract. Call me crazy, but I thought that was the whole point of having contracts.

I may be wrong but I also think he had talked to Washington long before it was decided that he was going to leave ND.

UCLA -7 against OK. When was the last time OK was an underdog going into a regular season game?

Some other interesting lines

FSU +1 at BC

ND -7 v MSU

Miami -6.5 at Clemson

Purdue -8 at Arizona

Tennesse +4 at Florida

You're not wrong, although that might be a rumor. I also heard that the administration offered Ty the chance to stay if he got rid of his worthless coordinators, and he wouldn't. I'll give Ty credit for his loyalty to them, but I'm not going to cry tears for a guy who played the violin on the Titanic when there was a life raft right next to him. Again, both of those things could definitely just be rumors, though. Like Ty squeezing in a quick 72 holes every week...

Got back from the Ball State-Bowling Green State game. BIG shock... Ball State lost 40-31. Which shocked all of us. I don't think I talked to anyone who expected us to score more than 14 points. We were even playing without about 38 of our players who were lost in the textbook scandle.

When I was down there BSU had the longest losing streak in the nation! That is one pathetic FB team. I do remember one game when the goal posts got tore down, but I can't remember for the life of me who they played (maybe Toledo). I know the posts ended up in the Duck Pond, and someone got hit by them and went into a coma, which lead to a lawsuit agains BSU. ANyway the point was BSU football sucks.

I just reread your post, they scored 31 points

We were all impressed/shocked by the score. The stadium to the duck pond is a pretty long way to carry a goal post. I get tired just lugging my camera gear back from the stadium.

NC, the stadium plans are beautiful, but one has to wonder where the money is coming from. In the last few years the university has built a new building for the art and journalism departments (where I'm writing from now), and a new music building for the music department (the accostics in the new performance hall are so good that you can hear a program drop to the floor form the other side of the hall) and a very nice parking garage (I know it sounds stupid but for some reason I think it is the nicest looking structure on campus). Their also completely redoing McKinley Avenue (with help from INDOT), their building another telecom. building (sadly it won't be named after Dave), and two new dorms (one to replace the sinking LaFollette Complex).

Anyway back to BSU football, the lights at the stadium are nice, but they still only schedual one or two night home games a year. It seems like a waste of money to me, but what do I know. I'm just a poor student.

Arizona is going to be a tricky game for us. Stoops scares me and Arizona almost beat Utah earlier this year. In the desert, too.

I know OU has been unimpressive, but I can't believe they are 7 pt. dogs. Wow.

I havent see PU play this year, but listened to some of a radio show about them today. I believe I heard they are running an option offense now. Is that true? I cant see tiller running much of the option. Also I am gonna root for PU so when ND comes into town hopefully it will be two unbeatens playing, making the game that much better.

Interesting; I lived in LaFollette during my four years there as an undergraduate.

That is interesting. Are they just going to get rid of LaFollete. That takes up a pretty good amount of land. Also how are they fixing McKinley? Will the road finally go around the tower they built? That looked ridiculous the way it was set up. Also is the new parking garage on Calvert? I had some friends who lived there and our last year there BSU forced them to move out and tore down their house. Always wondered what ended up going there.

I'd just like to thank Ohio State for not even giving Mr. Sutton, Big Ten Player of the Week, a look because of his size.

And for the shorter folks here, I thought I'd pass this observation along from the Daily Herald: Of the top 7 leading rushers, 6 of them are under 6 feet tall.

That dude put up some of the most ridiculous rushing lines in HS I'd ever seen. Consistently above 200 and 250 yards.

Ohio State made some questionable decisions in the 4th quarter, although I am not complaining. Their LB core is by far the best in the nation, and is the sole reason VY did not put up over 400 total yards on them. The made some great adjustment during the game.

Texas did not play great, but played good enough to win. Despite all the talk about VY, two things occured this game that could propel them back to Pasadena. First their Defense is just as good as last years even having to replace Derrick Johnson. 9 point off 3 turnovers allowed was the sole reason Texas won. Second, Cedric Benson has officially been replaced. Jamall Charles has a chance to be the next very special Texas running back. The fact that Mack Brown sees this and is not afraid to play the true freshman in the biggest game of the season in only his 2nd ever game is great. He has to get more carries before the OU game. Also don't forget about Big Henry Melton, this freshman is an absolute beast. Combined with the best OL in college football the running game is going to be huge on the avg. wide recievers.

9,426 career yards in H.S. There's a reason why December 7, 2004 is Tyrell Sutton day in Akron, Ohio.

I can't wait until Texas comes to Columbia. Smith and Young could put on quite a show.
