How pissed off do you think Todd Walker is?

He's probably starting to figure out that the Cubs will not pick-up his option for next year.

That'd be really unwise on the Cubs part - if they didn't want him back, they should pick up his option and then trade him. They should get something very valuable in a trade for a solid second baseman who's only getting $2.5 million for a full season.

I wouldn't trade him, though. I don't think the Cubs can beat that sort of production at that price at 2B next season.

Pre-game interview:

Bob: "What are some postive things you can take away from this season?"

me: please don't say Neifi

Dusty: "Well, I think how our young guys have played. You look at Cedeno and Murton, and..."

me: please don't say Neifi

Dusty: "... and our bullpen. Our bullpen is all young guys - Wuertz and Wellemeyer and Novoa and Ohman, and also..."

me: please don't say Neifi

Dusty: "...the leadership that some of our veterans have shown. You know, D-Lee has been great all year, and Aramis too, people wondered where we would get leadership after Sammy and Mo left, and D-Lee and Aramis have shown it. And also you've got..."

me: please don't say Neifi

Dusty: "...you've got, you have, you've got, uh, uh..."

Dusty: "... Neifi Perez."

And the Cubs continue their drive to get a first round pick after #15 so they can lose it on an idiotic free agent signing. :o

Oh well, nice HR, Barrett.

Why is Murton hitting 8th?!?!

he's playing. That's the most I can hope for with dumbass managing the team.

Although limited ABs, a 1000+ OPS against lefties I would hope would hit a bit higher

You can't have him batting higher than Neifi. He's saved us, dude.

Ugh, Z.

I really think Zambrano is like me on MVP 2005. If I lose the possibility of a perfect game/no hitter/shutout early on, I lose focus and give up a bunch of runs. :-)

When we go to analyze the offense in the offseason, September's stats should be thrown out.

I know we're playing better now, but if the games don't count then neither should the stats. It irks me to see players who don't contribute until it's too late, and it bothers me further when people make an analysis based on stats that mean less in terms of contribution to the pennant race than spring training.

At what point in time do you say "Murton should play every day"?

At the same point you decide, "Dusty Baker must not be allowed to manage another Chicago Cubs baseball game."

Man I miss the days of 50 page game threads .

:(

The Cubs are 14-6 when the game page reaches 50 pages.
