I don't know why I don't know this, but I don't.

Why do the Cubs play so many day games instead of night games? Is it a City thing or what?

The Cubs were one of the last teams to get lights. The city sets restrictions on the number of night games because Wrigley is located in a neighborhood.

That's the reason - city ordinances. With Daley running Chicago (White Sox fan and also all-around nepotistic jerk), the Cub org also needs to tow the line pretty closely.

Most of the rest of the postings to this topic are MORANIC. ;-) (Mis-spell is intentional - it's an NSBB joke, based on a mis-spelled sign by Cards fan.)

It's simple, Mayor Daley and the neighborhood organization. They can't do anything without the neighborhood voting on it first. The neighborhood doesn't want night games, so the Cubs have to make consessions to be able to have the few that they do have.

And Daley is just a jerk.

I know you won't care, but the 'moran' thing was started by Blues fans making fun of someone that used to troll on a Blues board

Im pretty sure its almost all Tom Tunney and the residents of Lakeview, not Daley.

No, it's a he's so short he could be passed off as a 12 year old joke.

I thought it was a 'he leads a double nocturnal life' joke.

Still. Good to get a three-in-one gag.

I always thought the Cubs played more day games because "that's the way the game should be played".

That's the way it should be.

If baseball was meant to be played at night there would be enough light in which to do so.

You know, I don't know why the immediate neighborhood would be opposed to night games. Seems to me like more night games would = more money. Of course everyone not in a rooftop or a bar would probably care less.

Damage to property, that's one reason. Drunk people urinate all over the buildings around Wrigley after games. They throw garbage on people's lawns, break windows, etc. Plus, it's pretty hard to sleep when 39,000 people erupt right next door. Then after the game they wander around the outside of the stadium for hours.

During the day, the urination and litering doesn't happen as much. I know it sounds crazy, but its true. People are much more bold when they have the darkness to hide them.

MOST people are much more bold. you probably shouldn't go to a day game with me.

There are no stupid questions. Only stupid Cardinal fans.
