  1. J-Rod has sucked the past month
  2. The fact that Carpenter can go deep into games throwing a little amount of pitches and still be very effective shows that he has great stamina and isn't being abused. Isn't this thread supposed to be about Rolen anyway?
  3. More than likely, they will never stop believing in luck
  4. If Rolen needs surgery, he needs to get it so he can be healthy for next year. As long as Walker and Sanders can come back, I think they can do without Rolen
  5. As long as he isn't making a ton of pitches, he could pitch complete games for all I care
  6. What the hell are win shares anyway? I've never even heard of them?
  7. But if the team misses the playoffs by, lets say 5.5 games, how valuable was he really to the team?
  8. It's plenty hot in St Louis even when the sun is down
  9. If the Cubs make the playoffs, Lee deserves to win. Otherwise it should be Pujols
  10. Good thing for the Cards that almost all playoff games are at night
  11. The thing about Manny Ramirez is that he isn't bad at fielding. He leads the ML in assists for outfielders and he is probably the best at playing balls of the Green Monster in Boston
  12. And when I think of speed, I think of Ichiro and Juan Pierre.
  13. Barry Bonds is not an all around player anymore. And if he wasn't so close to breaking the HR record, he would have retired this year, atleast thats my opinion
  14. *Points to CPatts post* That's the reason - city ordinances. With Daley running Chicago (White Sox fan and also all-around nepotistic jerk), the Cub org also needs to tow the line pretty closely. Most of the rest of the postings to this topic are MORANIC. ;-) (Mis-spell is intentional - it's an NSBB joke, based on a mis-spelled sign by Cards fan.) I know you won't care, but the 'moran' thing was started by Blues fans making fun of someone that used to troll on a Blues board
  15. For me, being an all-around player means having the five tools of baseball: speed, strong arm, hitting for average, hitting for power, and fielding. So that would be guys like Bonds in his prime, Larry Walker in his prime, Bobby Abreu, Carlos Beltran... Well said! Doesn't D. Lee and Albert have these tools at least compared to those in the league? I will admit that D. Lee and Albert are not your typical 5 tool players but they both are great athletes who are great at all facets of the game. I would have to put both of these guys before Jeter, Pudge/skinny, and Chipper Jones. Lee can become a 5 tool player if he keeps his average up. If not, he probably has 4 of the 5 tools, not sure about speed. For Pujols, he would need to become faster, which won't be happening. Pujols is a smart baserunner though which can make up for his lack of speed
