Now I know what it's like to be a Pirates fan.

No, a Pirates fan goes into the season knowing there have no hope of making the playoffs and will have young guys play. The Cubs on the other hand get our hopes up and then tank, and we get to watch old crafty Veterans over rookies who bust there butts off, and hustle to first base on an infield grounder..

Not to mention Pirates fans feel about $60 million in lesser expectations.

The Cubs must have decided to do me a favor. They knew I go back to work on Friday and don't need to spend as much time watching baseball and posting here. They timed the skid just so I'd go to work with a renewed focus.

vance_the_cubs_fan you're a teacher, correct? Back to lesson planning and getting your class room in order? I taught 7th and 8th grade Math along with 9th, 10th and 11th grade Geometry at a small parochial school, had fun but, made peanuts, non-Union as well.

I love losing! Let's keep doing it! Yay, this is fun!

As long as they find new and creative ways to lose, they could be fun

Want to see Prior pitch well. That guy rules.

Want to see personal gains for Ramirez, Lee and Nomar.

Would like to see Murton.

Don't much care beyond that. Optimism of yesterday gone.

Strong possibility.

Want to see personal gains for Ramirez, Lee and Nomar.

Good possibility except for Nomar. He'll probably sit today.

Would like to see Murton.

NO CHANCE. NO HOW. NO WAY. A RIGHTY IS PITCHING. ROOKIES CAN'T HIT RIGHTIES, DUDE.

Don't much care beyond that. Optimism of yesterday gone.

I like it. Compared to what we could've seen, I REALLY like it!

Now lets see if it is at all possible to score negative runs, scrubs!

Woah. Do you have any idea how positive you were going there buddy? That was 95 happy thoughts/hour, in a 0 happy thoughts/hour zone. I'm gonna have to take you down to the station.

Oh and Edwin Encarnacion, a top prospect against the Cubs i'm predicting

5-5 with 4 home runs and a bases loaded triple

Something's fishy... Dusty's brain may have woken from a coma to not start neifi or macias two days in a row.

Glad Corey gets some protection coming back... No, I'm sure he won't try to hit home runs exclusively... I mean, if he gets a base hit, he can steal 2nd, AND 3rd... and then maybe a wild pitch could score him...

But officer, my thought-o-meter is drowned in beer and not working properly

You know, Dusty was quoted in the Daily Herald saying he would rest Nomar today... I wonder if someone stepped in and made him play Nomar...

You know it's sad when every time I'm refreshing a thread and I can't connect to the server I get kind of excited that the site's being overwhelmed with responses to Dusty's firing in Discussions.

Maybe Dusty's Boys have been sent on an all-expense paid (by Dusty) golf outing this series. You know, his dudes need some R&R before the home stretch.

With the lineups the past two days it looks like maybe the reins have been tightened on Dusty. I can't believe he's made these lineups. Good to see Corey back. Hopefully he has some good at-bats today. I hope the boo birds aren't out in full force if he doesn't do well.

Let's hope Prior doesn't give up 12 runs in the 1st inning and that the Cubs can build on that sliver of momentum that they had going in the 9th inning last night.

There's a cubs vs. mets game form '88 on ESPN Classic if anyone wants to watch the Cubs without having to watch the '05 Cubs.
