A first-hand on Billek would be very welcome, actually. Go, Flames, go!

Thanks for the reminder, DJaxx ... I still have questions to submit. :)

The Peoria-Kane County series will wrap up the season series between the two teams. Kane County has stomped all over the Chiefs lately; would be nice if the Chiefs could pull out a few wins here.

I'm looking for another good start for Welly. If he keeps pitching well in the rotation for Iowa this year, he may get a chance to compete for a starter's spot on the Cubs in Spring Training next year. After all, Hendy said this year he sees Welly as a starter down the road. I also believe that Welly could still help the Cubs out of the pen this year.

Daytona: RHP Juan Mateo (7-5, 3.96) vs. RHP Scott Mathieson (2-4, 3.99)

This is a good reminder that Bo Fulginiti's answers for the Q&A are up in the Chats Forum. (Premium Link / Regular Link). He shared these observations on Juan Mateo:

Finally, Juan Mateo: He is the wildcard of the bunch because there is no telling how far he might go. We moved him from the bullpen to the rotation about two months ago and the results have been mixed. It’s taken him a little while to build up the arm strength to go 6 or 7 full frames, but he is slowly getting there. As always, throwing strikes is key for him, but his outpitch is a filthy slider that he throws low and away to right-handed batters, and he has gotten himself out of a lot trouble this season with that pitch. Keep your eyes peeled for his numbers at the end of the season … they should be very respectable.

Solo Home Run for Sam Fuld in the top of the 3rd!

It bounced off an umbrella stand.

Harvey with a seeing-eye single, and Schmidt with an RBI double.

Granato follows with an RBI single, advancing to 2B on the throw.

3-0 Chiefs, middle 3rd.

Other Peoria Game Notes

Luis Rivera is making his Chiefs debut tonight at 3B.

Javier Herrera has a broken tooth and is out of the lineup.

Corey Patterson has singled and K'd so far.

Sam Fuld with a nice running catch -- full extension -- for the first Cougars out.

Gallagher's parents are there to see him pitch.

Bo Flowers is in the lineup and has lots of family/friends there (he's from Maywood, IL).

Nathan has a cold (vitamin C hard candy!).

patterson is in iowa's lineup tonight, so he apparently hasn't been called up due to hairston's injury.

Interesting to see how they handle it, I assume Cedeno will be going back to Iowa tomorrow, but I hope they don't call up Patterson.

Ugh. In the bottom half, Bernard drops a Castillo foul popup for his 12th error ... and 9 pitches later, Gallagher ends up walking him.

Ruiz HBP

Double Play!

Pennington walks

Perez doubles, scoring Castillo and Pennington. Both runs are unearned.

Leslie flies out.

3-2 Chiefs

My last update for awhile ... GO CHIEFS!

ETA: ok, before leaving, I have to post that Luis Rivera just made an incredible leaping stab-catch of a line drive and doubled Buck (who had doubled) off 2B for the double play. Sounded like a great play!

Greenberg is playing tonight. He started in right and has a walk in his only AB so far.

Ryu with nothing but zeros through three.

Great job by Mateo tonight. 6.2 IP, 4 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 2 strikeouts. O'Toole's 2-run HR is the only scoring of the game so far.

yikes, Huntsville tags JK for 4 runs off 5 hits in the 4th, 4-0 Stars

The guys playing the music when a player comes to the plate are having way too much fun. If you haven't paid attention, listen to the music when a Stars player comes to the plate and figure out how it refers to their name.

Yeah. Right when I was saying that he was perfect through 3.

Patterson is 1-2 with a an RBI single to left. He went to second on the throw home and scored on a single to left from McClain.

Wellemeyer not off to the best start, but he's minimized the damage. 4 IP, 6 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, 2 strikeouts.

MASH theme when the trainer goes out? Nice touch.

Bernard's HR regained the lead for Peoria in the 6th. 4-3 game.

Ugh, Montanez gets picked on what sounded like a questionable call before Reyes goes yard with NSBB correspondent Aaron Sisk on base!

4-2 Huntsville!

In Peoria's 7th, Fuld walked and Patterson drove him home with his 8th triple of the season. He scored on Bo Flowers' RBI FC.

Wellemeyer's final line: 5 IP, 7 hits, 1 run, 3 walks, 4 strikeouts

Bacon with a PH triple with 2 outs in the 8th. It sounds like he had thoughts of the ITP HR! Greenberg up with the Jaxx down 2!
