Anyone read this yet? It's on ESPN.com. If you haven't don't waste your time. Completely ignorant. Here's a line from it just so you know what angle he takes.

The only question left to ask will be this: If it were Bobby Cox and not Dusty Baker, would I have ever had to write this column?

Seriously. How about this, Scoop: He's a poor in-game manager and is maddeningly committed to vets, and my opinion of that won't change based on what color of the rainbow he is or isn't.

Whether Chicago could use more black sports radio hosts or columnists is a different subject, but wanting Dusty gone has nothing to do with race.

What a ridiculous article! I guess Jimy Williams was a victim of racism in Houston last year as well. Notice that Scoop never talks about specific problems that Dusty has, nor does he try to rebut the complaints of Mariotti et al. He never discusses Dusty leaving two of the worst OBP guys in the league at the top of his order for half a year. He never talks about Dusty completely mismanaging his bullpen. And he never even hints at Dusty's inability to play rookies - who are more talented than the everyday jokes like Macias.

I'll be the first to say it. If being critical of the way Dusty Baker manages a game makes me a racist, then I guess I'm a racist. Frankly, that's a pathetic card to play, and says more about Scoop Jackson than it does about anyone who feels Dusty should be removed as manager of the Cubs.

I'm thinking the conversation went like this.

Espn guy: Scoop, we need you to write an article on Dusty Baker feeling the heat in Chicago.

Scoop: But I haven't followed the cubs all year. I have no idea if Dusty is even doing a good job in Chicago.

Espn guy: Well, you could always make it a race issue.

Scoop: Good idea!

Scoop Jackson is a racist. Im not kidding. He hates white peope and always mentions something in every single damn article about how blacks are treated unfairly. Its repetitive and just inappropriate most of the time. He doesnt seem to realize that people say bad stuff about specific black athletes and managers because its true. It has nothing to do with skin color. But he always seems to think it does. Stupid article. Stupid man.

I honestly believe that Jay Mariotti is the better writer. Jackson should be fired for pure stupidity as well as continuing to say everybody is racist when, in fact, he is the one being racist.

Nice to see someone pick up the torch left by Ralph Wiley.

Oh, wait. No it isn't.

The only question left to ask will be this: If it were Bobby Cox and not Dusty Baker, would I have ever had to write this column?

No, because Cox is a competent (even good) manager. If he were managing the Cubs I doubt there would be nearly as many fans calling for his head.

I actually decided to torment myself and read it.

Wow. This was a horribly researched article. It was clearly intended to rile up Cubs fans and get them talking about this hack's fluff piece.

How sad is it that Bill Simmons is the best and most thoughtful writer ESPN has?

I really think the writers are told to stir things up. Simmons' article about Reggie Miller not being a superstar was made for that exact reason.

Last Non-Interim Manager before Dusty was Don Baylor. If Chicago news papers didn't want Dusty because of his skin color, then why did they lobby for his hiring after Don Baylor was terminated? Scoop Jackson doesn't live on the surface of the planet on this one.

I remember when he used to write for Slam Magazine. I loved that magazine, but every article was worthless. Everything written in it, Scoop's stuff included, was nothing more than a circlejerk for the players. Hell, according to Slam, Marcus Camby was the next Kevin Garnett.

Anyway, I don't have a problem with someone playing the race card, racism definitely exists in sports, and if you want to call attention to it, I'm all for it. I just hate it when the race card is used like it was in this article.

Its just that he seems to pull the race card in every article he writes.

That's possibly the worst article I have ever read. I suppose we hate D.Lee because he's black, Aram because he's Dominican, Zambrano because he' venezulan, and we only booed corey because he was of a different skin color.

And did anyone else see D.Lee mentioned as the second-best player in baseball? Excuse me?

Oh I know, im not defending Scoop, I think he's horrible. Im just saying that if a writer responsibly brings up the race card, good for them.

I'm honestly considering cancelling my ESPN Insider and magazine subscripition because they let this idiot write this article. I'm absolutely appaled that this racist would write this collumn. He is the most racist person out of all the people he mentioned. I'm honestly mad about this because I'm tired of stuff like this. Dusty is a bad in game manager and that cannot be disputed by anyone. But Jackson pulls out the race card even though 3 out of our 4 major sports teams have minorty mangers or head coaches. Scoop Jackson is a fool and I wrote a long letter to ESPN and I want to see how they respond. I want the to post my letter somewhere or they have instantly lost all future money from me.

I gave up and read that article. What a terrible article. Granted, I dislike Dusty, but it's nothing compared to what Mr. Jackson is saying. I just dislike Dusty for the fact that he mismanage the bullpen, cannot fill out a line-up, etc. etc.

I e-mailed a letter to ESPN about this article, and concerning Mr. Jackson. I suspect once a civil rights leader/leaders/group reads this, that odds are that they'll be blasting at ESPN and at Mr. Jackson.

This comment alone provides enough impetus for me to never read 'Scoop' Jackson's drivel.

The funniest part of that article was when he accused Mariotti of being racist.

NO, the funniest part of the article is referring to his keeping the '04 and '05 teams at .500 as miraculous. Ugh. Terrible stuff.
