The KC Star reports that the Royals are looking for an OF with pop:

"The Royals have virtually abandoned attempts to pry Kevin Mench from the Rangers or persuade the Reds to part with either Austin Kearns or Adam Dunn at a reasonable price. Their recent efforts shifted instead toward what Baird terms 'projection' prospects such as Jeremy Hermida of the Marlins and Felix Pie of the Cubs. Or Jonny Gomes of the Devil Rays."

They don't have anyone that would make us give up Pie. If Hendry wouldn't part with Hill for a guy like Dunn, who would he part with Pie for?

Maybe the Royals are hoping Hendry will take Pie off the 40 man roster? :D

I would think that a lot of low budget teams would be interested in a player like Pie.

I would think almost any team would....even this year. His defense and speed and potential bat make him a great 4th/5th OF this year or even a starter if needed.

But he's ours...back off :D

The whole Royal roster plus their whole farm system for Pie. (Royals pay all salaries)

Are you really the Tampa Bay GM?

Would you trade Pie for DeJesus? Obviously, Pie projects to be a better player, but DeJesus has better plate discipline and has proven to be a pretty good player. Maybe Pie for DeJesus and a mid-level pitching prospect?

No way, Pie is untouchable. I'd go Tampa Bay on anybody asking for him. I want your top 5 prospects and a big leaguer who can help right now :D

I think a spot would have to be cleared on the 40 man to keep him out of the rule 5 draft

UMMMM..... how 'bout no-

Really? I'd trade any Cub if it made the team better. I'm sure KC could put together a nice package for Pie.

THE only player on the Royals, or in their system I would even considered for Felix Pie is Zack Greinke. And even then, I still wouldn't do it. Pie is going to be a "special" player, and you don't trade special players.

Not even for a package of KC players which would include Greinke?

If they offered something like: DeJesus, Grienke + Sisco, JH would be a fool not to take it.

Of course, they're not going to do that.

You pretty much nailed it on the head. The Royals are trying to keep the team intact and young for the 06 season.

I knew that the name Sisco would find it's way into this thread..

You know this how? Special like Patterson? Or Hill? Choi? Harris?

Not doubting Pie has the skill set to do well, but I'm not buying any prospect as being "the next big thing" until they actually prove it.

I'm sure they are interested in Pie. Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if every other team in MLB is interested in him. They'd be dumb not to be.
He's gonna be the next Corey Patterson! I mean Sergio Mitre! I mean Hee Sop Choi!

I don't doubt there's 'potential' in Pie, but people need to stop building him up to the baseball god he's become in this forum. Talk about playing player favorites, this guy hasn't shown he can cut it in the big leagues yet. I'm not saying trade him for Farnsworth, but I would by no means label him "untouchable" or "the second coming of Christ".

Your welcome, I'll be here all week

Hey, I'm just saying don't build this guy up too much, or the expectations certainly fall short and we'll have another Corey Patterson fiasco.
