i'd rather just have Hairston bat 8th. Have a good OBP near the bottom of the order while you can have Walker bat 2nd, the best spot for him.

I say, Iowa. He has proved he can play in the majors and since he wont get much playing time, Iowa is the best option.

Yep. That's just about the only situation unless Dusty wants to double risk Lawton in Right and Burnitz in Center. Which I really don't think would work anyway.

 

And if/when Patterson's phone does ring, I expect the OF will remain except with Hairston riding the pine.

How can he not start Murton? Oh, that's right, he's a rookie. And all rookies are bad, right Dusty?

Where would you put him? In center? Lawton on the bench? Padilla is a righty, and at least Holly isn't playing.

 

He could start Burnitz in CF and Lawton in RF, but that would make him play a rookie and rookies are bad.

 

Not wanting a Murton/Burnitz/Lawton defensive outfield is not a crime. Would I do it? Maybe, but I'm not going to begrudge Dusty for going for a semblence of outfield defense. I'm all for getting on Dusty when he unjustly benches rookies, but tonight and Murton is not that time.
