Personally, my gut feeling is no, they won't work anything out. However, I've been wrong once or twice before, so I might be wrong again. ;-)

In my mind, it's not a question of will they or won't they, but rather a question of who it will be.

 

With all the speculation taking place, it's probably a safe bet to assume the Cubs will get one of:

 

Dunn

Kearns

Huff

Floyd

Soriano

Mench

Manny

Lawton

 

But, Hendry isn't exactly predictable.

so hendry has been alot less quiet, and alot less conservative this time around, good news, now if he can just act on it the same way as last year

Last year it seemed written in stone that we were going to acquire Orlando Cabrera. Nomar kind of came out of the blue, to me anyways.

There was a good amount of speculation about Clement for Nomar, but it kind of died out until about this time last year.

I have the feeling Hendry really believes his going to get something out of Wood, Williamson and Garciapparra. To him, those three coming off the DL is the equivalent of a block buster trade. Normally it would be but, this is the Cubs and we can all count on one hand when something like that has worked out for them. Bottom line, look for Hendry to stand pat while every over WC contender makes a move.
