Well, to Neifi's defense, hes done pretty well this season. I dont expect Cedeno to start ALL the time. But he should maybe get a few more starts.

In Hollandsworth's case, there is NO excuse. Murton should be getting all the starts.

Inning over. Zambrano with 54 pitches through 4 innings.

who cares about carlos pitch count. obviously dusty doesn't he is going all nine if this is close.

I care and I venture to guess Dusty does as well.

oh you must have missed the last two years when we completely disreguarded them then. Like in 03 when we are up 8-0 in the playoffs and we let a 22 year old Mark Prior throw 125 pitches. Dusty doesn't give a rats behind.

hank only shows up against the white sox and cards.

That's your opinion. Perhaps if Dusty had a reliable bullpen he would use it regularly instead of allowing his starters to go deeper than some.. Zambrano has not been misused.

Now back to the game.

was it my opinion that had Z throwing over 140 pitches against the phillies in a game in April? Z has been abused big time.

Here's my question to Jim Callis from BA on ESPN just now:

Dave B. (Portland, OR): Hi Jim, I'm curious about Matt Murton's projections in the Majors. He's currently platooned in LF - think he can hit righties well enough to stick (Dusty Baker be darned!)?

Jim Callis: (3:18 PM ET ) He can hit righthanders--his bat isn't a question. Outside of his arm, he has nice all-around tools. I think he'll be a solid big league regular if Dusty Baker gives him the chance to play.

Uhh.... .265/.285/.377. Not picking on you, because I have recently read multiple articles stating, that Neifi has been "great" for us this year.

I'm confused how the above line is anything more than atrocious, especially for a team in the wild-card hunt.

You would think that teams in our position would be the most likely to try and ride the hot hand, and not stick to guys like Perez.

Macias is now batting .290!!!

God he sucks so badly! It makes me so mad!! How can he be starting on a day game after a night game that lasted until 1 am when he's only hitting .290? AUGGHHHHHH!!!

Funny, this all started out because I posted "Inning over. Zambrano with 54 pitches through 4 innings."

'Abused' is a subjective term. There are pitchers that routinely pitch 140-150 and never have arm problems. Livan Hernandez comes to mind. It depends on the individual as well as the stress involved in the pitches.

He's a shortstop. He's our backup shortstop.

He has a lot of rbis and a pretty fair BA for a SS - he's not Babe Ruth however.
