I dont really care if Macias has experience against Hawkins cause hes played with him and so on, or none of that worthless crap. Dusty is the suckiest manager around.

I'm sure this will spark discussion, but the actions by the fans against Hawkins could have hurt Murton. After all, Murton is a very considerate and caring individual. Just thinking out loud.

Then it's time to grow up, frankly. There's no crying in ... well, you get it.

No offense, but maybe that's a sign of being grown up.

This ain't Pringles Park. He's paid to win, not make judgements about the fans' morality.

ah figures. after the Neifi GS on Sunday, were not due for an unlikely hero for quite some time.

and i really don't care about the Hawkins chants. it was obvious the guy wasn't 100% focused on pitching, so take advantage of it. Man if the guy pitched in New York, it would be so much worse.

Um, Macias didn't pitch hit for Hairston. Macias came in for Hairston in CF an inning or two ago. Maybe hairston is hurt.

Either that or Dusty got fed up with Hairston's approach.

Probably an act of Dustyism.

I think that Hairston tweaked his ankle making dusty worry about his range in CF.

He didn't PH for Hairston. He was in at least a half inning earlier.

This is baseball, not tennis or golf. Hawkins is being booed because he REALLY sucked for the Cubs. He blew so many games for us. He then kept acting unaffected, and showed no emotion.

Us fans wanna win, right now. We're tired of losing as a whole. While some of the jeering was sad, its deserved.

Well Hairston was 1-3 with a walk so I think it was probably an injury. I know Dusty doesn't seem to like Hairston but I don't think he would waste a bench player in a one run game unless it was because of injury.

I'm sorry, if there's one thing that the Internet has taught me about sports, it's that there are classless fans everywhere. Yes, what the fans did to Hawkins there was inappropriate and rude. He rubbed many fans the wrong way and he was inconsistent as a setup man.

However, we're not alone in this. Fans everywhere are classless and rude. Take a stroll around the internet and various message boards. Read what various AL East fans had to say about Matt Clement taking a comebacker off the head. Read the reactions to Mark Prior taking a comebacker off the elbow. Todd Hollandsworth fouling a ball off his shin. Terrell Owens breaking his leg. The list goes on.

Does it make it right? No. Is every fan like this? Of course not. But, it's an unfortunate fact of sports. Philadelphia is not the only city responsible for that kind of thing, nor is Chicago.

Believe it or not, but how a team's fans treat their players does factor in to how they feel about the place, hometown discounts, re-signing with thte team, etc.

That aside, the last thing I want is for Chicago to become like Philadelphia. There is something to be said for civility.
