What does Jermaine Van Buren have to do to get called up. In AAA, he has a WHIP just under 1, an ERA just over 2, he is striking well over a batter per inning. Why does this guy not get considered?

The Cubs have announced that when Wood return it's going to be in the bullpen. I would suspect Mitre would be the man sent down since he hasn't been very effective in the pen.

I think you need runners on 1st and 2nd at least for the infield fly rule to be in effect

Vizquel had to go a ways into the outfield. not a routine play and not on the infield.

The IF rule is only in effect with two runners on. (To prevent an infielder from fooling runners into a DP.)

Schmidt was low-mid 90's. But the strikezone got smaller with LaTroy than it was for Schmidt for some reason. Hmmm..

 

Not bad. He's been pretty solid his last several starts. Seems like he's getting back on track. He may never be dominant again, but he's still quite effective.
