I don't think Dunn is the answer anymore this year or in the future. I think Murton is the better baseball player, and should be given the same chance than Dubois got to take over the spot from Hollandsworth. I think Murton will be able to put up a similar OBP with a much higher average. Less power but we already have enough of that.

What do YOU think.

I'm happy with just having Murton out there. Only problem is he only gets to play when a lefty is on the mound.

I'd much rather get some studs in the bullpen than get a stud in LF. Murton's done a good job when he's gotten a chance.

Hard choice. I like Murton a lot and I am not one of the many Dunn-lovers here, but its a tough choice. It all depends on the price for Dunn.

Right now, though, I am just fine with Murton as, like you said, we dont really need any more power/free-swingers. We have greater concerns than our left-fielder I can tell you that.

For the price of Dunn, it is NOT worth the price.

I'd rather have the answer in center field for 2-3 seasons until Pie's ready. That answer is Juan Pierre. He'll solidfy the starting lineup everyday at the top of the order.

Why don't people realize that Home Runs are NOT the answer? We need line drive hitters who have a good BA when runners are in scoring position. We need solid batters who execute and are clutch. Batters who KNOW how to hit a single, when a single is needed. That answer is Matt Murton in LF for now.

Adam Dunn is NOT a clutch baseball player, and is a total newbie when it comes to the playoffs. Juan Pierre brings speed and talent to the team, like an injected shot in the arm. He'll bring intangibles, and the knowledge of winning baseball to the Chicago Cubs.

I would much rather have Murton. He's not a power hitter, but gets the job done and is at least an average defender.

Dunn hits for power, but does not adjust at all in situations with runners on base, etc. Dunn just isn't "clutch".

I'm not saying that Murton is "clutch", but I can see his approach producing far more valuable hits than Dunn's approach.

Finally, I think Dunn will end up in the AL someday, so I wouldn't want to trade much for him. Dunn is a good player, but not the kind of player this team needs. His OBP would be great if he hit leadoff and had some speed, but I just don't see it being as valuable hitting in the 6th slot...

Dunn would be an awesome addition to this club, no doubt. The guy's got an awesome OBP, SLG and OPS. When you have a chance to add a guy with a .940 OPS to your lineup, you need to do it. People just need to learn to look past batting avg and his K's and look at the important stats.

Dunn is batting .209 with runners in scoring position.

No thanks. Our team has enough guys that strand runners. We stranded 9 runners today in Cincinatti.

His OBPRISP is .460.

He also has 30 RBI's with RISP, which is only 8 less than Aramis has this year with RISP. Just look past the batting average. Not to mention Dunn's OBP with RISP is .460

Pardon me, but I think the question should be changed to Hollandsworth or Murton in the outfield.

Murton every day.

And Dusty coaching elsewhere. He has to go.

Hahaha yeah Murton's had a half of a season at AA ball where he was awesome that means he's better than Dunn who's career stats are better than Murton's awesome AA stats.

Murton, easily.

But Rocket, Dunn strikes out a lot and has a low batting average. He isn't clutch enough. We already strike out enough.

I've decided to use green as the color to indicate sarcasm.

If we are going to get Dunn we should have just kept Sammy..

I don't know what that means.

Dunn's batting average is low and he strikes out a lot. Those are the only stats that matter for hitters.

What about Murton in CF and leading off? He looks like he definitely has the speed to have good range defensively and it's not hard to outproduce Hairston offensively lately.

Murton is off to a great start, which is Rookie Must #1 in getting Dusty to notice your talent when you are not a blue chipper.

I still don't think Dusty will play him. He sat the kid down after a 4 hit night. I still see him only getting PT against lefties.

Which is just stupid. The kid is hitting and getting on base. He was on base 3 out of 4 times today. He's been on base 50% of the time since being called up.
