If Hendry sees that Baker is not the right man to bring the kids along, he’d likely go a different direction. Perhaps he’d bring in a fresh face, such as Atlanta Braves coach Fredi Gonzalez, whom Hendry interviewed during the search that led to Baker’s hiring.

 

With the exception of only one WS win, the Braves have been the top organization in baseball over the last fifteen years. They've also done an excellent job of working in youth while still winning at the major league level. They would be an excellent model to follow.

Nice Article. This article seemed to imply, what most of us assume, that Baker is indeed on a short lease. Maybe this will encourage him to give the Rooks a shot.

I would have killed for Gardenhire. He, Cox, and Scoscia, IMO, are the three best in baseball right now.

Lynch was the one mostly responsible for the hiring of Baylor, Hendry was director of scouting at the time, I believe.

Speier might be the successor if Baker is canned.

 

Assume Hendry wants to make a change and an interim is needed. I could see Speier being named interim and given a legitimate shot for the job.

Dusty is a veteran's manager. Nothing wrong with that if you're the coach of the 2005 SF Giants. :P
