5 years 110 mill seems like a fair offer, from my perspective.  They've kept Happ around for 10+ years on a similar AAV.  I'll be really disappointed if they let a much better player walk over a couple million

Since 2022, when seiya came over, Happ has been worth 15.5 fWAR to seiya’s 14.1 fWAR in roughly 100 more games. Happ outperformed Suzuki in 2025 in the same amount of games. 

I’ll lean Suzuki at the moment of the two but ‘much better’ is just (very) recency bias.

A large part of Happ's value is his defense in LF, which is probably the easiest defensive position to play.  Not to mention that Seiya had to spend nearly all of 2025 being a DH.  What would the comparison be if Happ had to spend an entire season at DH and Suzuki got to spend his career in LF?  It wouldn't be close.  I don't think it's recency bias to say that Suzuki is clearly better.

I personally like Shaw better as a RH utility bat for both infield and outfield.

I still think Alcantara will get an opportunity in ST (whenever that starts up) to be an opening day starter, and if they cant work out a deal with Suzuki,  theyll sign a guy to bridge them til one of the other outfield prospect is ready to go.

That's the frustrating part with him, he would likely be one of the top starters in NL or baseball if it weren't for all the homeruns.

57 total runs, 27 total homeruns, 20 solo shots

3.74 ERA could be 3 or less if he eliminate some of these longballs, cause he's very stingy giving up runs otherwise.
