Fuld plays center field and majored in econ? What a loser...

And he went to a coastal California school.

Don't hate, Jon. Don't hate on us Californian econ majors who played CF.

I'll take Stanford Jr. in the midwest any day. It's all about the weather.

And it's imporant to note that Fuld PLAYS CF. You PLAYED CF.

I play CF for the City of Arcadia Recreation softball team. He plays for a Cubs minor league affiliate. Obviously, I have him beat there.

Cliff Bartosh works a scoreless 8th and 9th and Iowa wins 9-4.

Daytona lost 4-0. Dopirak's average is down to .243 after an 0 for 4 day. Polanco went 4 and gave up 3 ER.

Nate Boliva passed along a brief update on Alberto Garcia: he's rehabbing in Mesa and just working on maintaining his upper body strength.

The Eric Patterson interview is up in mp3 format for download at http://s41.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3CADX2FJECQUR3D2S43BTDDAV2 It's ~4:40 and ~4.4mps.

A Patterson sac fly ties the game at 1 in the bottom of the 3rd.

There was a period at the end of the initial link that made it not work. That one should work correctly.

Wow, having the only fireworks show in Jackson definitely helped the Jaxx (from the Jaxx website):

The Huntsville Stars took over first place in the Northern Division with a 5-3 win over the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx before a crowd of 6,735 fans at Pringles Park. The crowd was the second largest to ever attend a regular or post-season game in the teams eight year history at Pringles Park.

Oops! It was my first time posting something through there. I edited my post so the link should work there.

Of course, I got the idea of posting it there from you. :)

I'm making a mental note that MILB hasn't posted the Mesa box today. When they post it, I'll hopefully remember to bump this thread to let everyone know what happened down there.

I love how every other AZL box score was posted by midday. :x

Eeek, Luke Hagerty's ERA up to 27. :?

More Rich Hill longballs

They're rushing Hill. I guess he had nothing left to prove in AA, but the quick cup of coffee in Chicago was dumb. I hope it doesn't put Rich in the wrong frame of mind, I can't believe the Cubs really expect anything from Hill before 2006. Oneira should tell him you're here in Des Moines until September, then the Cubs will bring you in with the September call-ups.

Instead, maybe he's thinking if I just have a good game tonite in front of this scout, if I strike out a couple more batters, maybe I get back to the bigs.....wrong attitude for Hill.

Rich Hill is at the level he should be at right now.

And how long have you been a psychoanalysist? Maybe he's thinking that, and then again maybe not. Either way, I doubt they're the reason for him giving up home runs. That has more to do with his fastball not being an average above pitch and/or him hanging that gorgeous curveball.

If he's giving up all these home runs on the fastball, he's going to have to learn to control the pitch a lot better so he can put it exactly where he wants it when he wants it, and continuing to work on an effective changeup would help too (and what's happened to his cutter, anyone?). If it's the curveball he's giving up the home runs on, I don't have as much of a problem with that, because you can't exactly tell him to stop throwing that curve.

Anyone know off which pitch these home runs are mostly getting hit?

I didn't like his call-up last month, but I don't see how you can pin that on the HRs he's surrendered. He was surrendering HRs at about the same rate before the call-up as after the call-up.

Sorry, Diffusion. I have no clue what pitches he was throwing. But someone who throws a curveball as often as he does is likely to hang his share of them.

I meandered out to Peoria for Sunday's game.

Patterson showed a good eye at the bat, hit the ball to all fields, line drives, good range at 2B.

Fuld impressed me the most, hit the hardest balls of the night, one by Larsen as well.

Harvey had a poor 1st AB, but he adjusted to the breaking pitch and was able to lay off of it after the 1st AB. He still has the frame to add pounds w/out becoming stiff.

Sisk was good as wll, I don't know how he played SS in the Central League, he appears to be a tweener.

Weber showed a 88-90FB, avg. curve, I won't judge a player based on one outing, but he'll have to be way more deceptive as he progresses.
