Those pitches were really inside....but based on strike one and two, Corey needed to at least swing at number three.

I know what you are saying, but Corey also has to establish that he will look at the close ones. I'm not watching the game, but that's not the first time that Corey has had strike three called on a pitch that was a ball. sort of like a pitcher who doesn't get a borderline strike call will often go back to the same spot to prove he can put it there and get the strike called the second time around. (and I can't help but wonder if the ump would have called that same strike three times had the batter been Edmonds, who inevitably would have turned around and argued after the first two).

Corey's really in a Catch 22 right now. we want him to lay off pitches out of the zone, but the umps call anything that is close to borderline a strike when he's standing at the plate.

Pat: Aramis is not in the lineup, but the word is he could pinch hit later on...

Ron (interrupting): Wellllllll, the word is he could pinch hit (abruptly stops talking)

Textbook phantom force at second.

If you try to pull that pitch, Todd, it'll be a DP every time.

how long will Jim stand pat? Every year he costs us games along the way just waiting until the deadline. Last year he possibly could have cost us the playoffs by waiting until the deadline to add something everyone knew we needed the entire year. Seems to be content to do the same in left this year.

When i started reading that I thought you meant Pat Hughes.

And after what happened last year with the tv team I took it seriously...

It's not that simple. The only deals available now are players we're not too excited about, ie Preston Wilson.

ha yeah true. Way to not take a walk Jose. I mean sure henry pry wont get him in either but it would help turn the lineup over.
