I agree we could really use another power RHB vs LHP.  But I don't like Teo with the age/contract.  Dodgers might send us money in a deal, but still not wild about it.  We could get our RHB with a platoon bench bat for far cheaper.  Not to mention he wasn't even good last year.

You don’t want Hernández but want Goldschmidt? Why does that work any better? He is a DH that would mean Suzuki is in the outfield.

Plays first base, hits lefties. could be cheap. .981 ops vs lefties last year.

I'm not one to worry about the Ricketts money, but this trade seems like a waste of resources (dollars and players) for an expensive DH who will get a handful of bats a week.

True. Honestly, I am not even arguing for Hernandez. As I said at the start, I give it a 1% chance of happening. My only comment was him and Seiya wouldn’t be a problem. I tend to agree with most other posters who suggest the Cubs won’t spend that money on him when they have other needs. Goldy does make sense here. My only worry is he will be 38 next season. But if he comes cheap, sure he is a good fit.

I think the idea of Hernandez outstrips his reality.  He’s been a slightly above average hitter with little platoon split 2 of the last 3 years, and he’s a DH defensively while entering his mid 30s.  I could see him working out but there are many more options with more upside, lower cost, and/or simply less complexity

I hate playing the old grumpy card....but just watching Teoscar it looks like he isnt even trying that hard in the field. I know this is probably just perception, but he would drive me crazy if I had to see him in the Cub OF more than a few times

You wouldn’t. He would DH. Honestly not worth discussing. I highly doubt they would trade for him.
