Brewers experienced a solid starter yesterday and they folded like a tent.  Absolutely no offense.  2 hits.  I was actively switching back and forth so I didn't see the whole game or even close but I haven't seen much of that from the Brewers.

It's not going to get easier either.  They have a well-rested Yamamoto tonight.  Sub-3 ERA, .99 WHIP.  If they go back to LA down 0-2 I'd expect they'll be swept or maybe 4-1.

We saw what they are a GB machine with little to no power, just a smidge more solid pitching from the Cubs. And it would have been the Cubs getting shut down by Snell yesterday.  Just don't understand the thoughts here about the Brewers being potentially better next year.  While probably not being a bad team, they won't be better, what they did this year was a statistical anomaly.  This whole idea of BAIP, wait for the other team to boot the ball, etc. is not sustainable.

Part of me is glad the Cubs got eliminated instead of being the jobber to the Dodgers.

I would have still liked to make the NLCS, but this is definitely funny. Brewers facing 8 from Snell and 9 from Yamamoto is just way too funny.

Maybe Pat Murphy can read a second weird motivational letter.

That's 5 hits, count 'em, from the BAIP contact masters over 18 innings.  Don't know if things are going to improve for the Brewers in LA, Ohtani hasn't done anything with the bat, that probably won't continue.  All the condescending nonsense written here about Brewers and it turns out their pitching situation is about as dire as the Cubs was - I find that hilariously ironic.

If you count Rea as the starter for game 5, the Dodgers have already gotten over 2 innings more out of their starters in 2 games than the Cubs got from theirs in 5. Cubs got 14 2/3 (Boyd 5.1, Shota 2.2, Taillon 4, Rea 2.2)

edit: forgot Rea pitched 3.1 in relief of Shota... changed my math

Reading the Brewers forum it's very weird.  They're all giving up on the season, and most bizarre of all they're turning on each other, with over-emotional doom boner posts, slamming Yelich's contract, criticizing Murphy's moves, the whole bit.

Nothing like our game threads.

The Dodgers' bullpen is the weak point of the team but it doesn't matter if their starters never leave the game.  And while the bullpen is weaker, the Brewers will now get the fully-rested version of all those pitchers if/when they do get used.

There's got to be at least one or two baseball experts at their board who knew losing to the Dodgers was a very real possibility.

The Cubs with just a touch more pitching, such as a healthy Horton, would have ended their season sooner.

I'm seeing reports of a cramp?  In any case the Brewers have been progressively improving: game 1 - 1 run, 2 hits, game 2 - 1 run, 3 hits, game 3 - 1 run, 4 hits so there's hope.  It would be hilarious, ironic and just horsefeathers flat out great if they ended the post season with a record of 3-6.

The Dodgers stacked their team with pitchers and then let them take months off with "injuries," and everyone is fresh for the playoff run. Cheat code, unlocked.

Now the Crew needs to face off against Ohtani to stay alive.  If LA sweeps all these guys will be rested and ready for the WS as the Jays & Mariners wear each other down.  Advantage LA for the championship.

I'd roll the dice with Quintana today for the Brewers.  What have they to lose?  They need something miraculous to happen, Quintana shutting down the Dodgers is that something.  He's got to be as good or better than a worn out Ashby, etc.
