I’ll take my chances with the guy leading NL rookies in bWAR and has a 181 wRC+ in the second half

Do you think there’s any correlation between the shielding and the production

Slightly, but his defense and speed make up for it and Castro is not really much better against sinkerballers

I am pretty sure each of those guys pitched more innings in that streak. Horton does 5 or 6. Still fantastic. Not taking anything away from him, but Jake’s run was unreal.

Cade has gone 37 innings in his last 7 starts and has a 0.49 ERA with a 2.60 FIP. Arrieta during the last 7 starts in 2015 pitched 55 innings with a 0.33 ERA and a 1.59 FIP.

I’ll be shocked if I ever see a 12 start stretch better than Jake’s in the rest of my life.

That was a magical run by Arrieta. I almost feel like he exhausted all his physical talent in that ~2 year stretch to will the Cubs to a World Series and then his career was more or less over (it wasn’t but he never reached anything close to those highs and those Phillies years, woof)
