In Mathis' defense, he's hurt again. He didn't really get much of a chance to show out at Myrtle. It's too early to call anything a disaster. It hasn't been an ideal start. The Cubs have been good enough drafting, however, over the last half decade under Kantrovitz that even if they do miss on Mathis, the amount of picks outside of the 1st and 2nd that they've hit on, they're due a dud.

I don't disagree, they're allowed a few Duds they've been pretty solid over the last couple years. I just never understood the Mathis pic. The Cubs have about 3 billion first base/dh types in the system already, and then you use a pic on a guy with a similar profile who's already hurt. Hopefully proves me wrong and becomes a monster.

I kind of get it. Had some sickass batted-ball-data. If you can translate that to 3b (he was a pitcher as well) then that plays.

Bummer season. I hope he figures it out.

Steele Hall, Ike Irish, Kruz Schoolcraft. These names sound like the generic minor league players on the MVP Baseball games.

If Wood makes it past the Phillies enough pitching smart teams will have passed on him that I'll feel comfortable that it wasn't poor decision making to let him go (even if he ultimately ends up awesome).

Irish saying bigoted stuff while drunk is a Sunday-Saturday thing down on the plains in Auburn. They may have an active klan chapter there.

*IF* Conrad gets full slot, will you like the pick?

Greg suggested he'd be a bit underslot, and now most board posts tonight seem to assume underslot.

But usually, Kantro has gone slot, or above, with his other 1st/2nd-round guys.  So I wonder if he won't get full slot, just like Wicks and Shaw and Cam got?

Seems every year we talk underslot, but Horton is the only first-round underslot.  Bust Burl the only 2nd-round underslot, 5 years ago.  We'll see, of course.  But if I had to guess between slot and $750 sub-slot, I'd probably guess with the full slot?

Why are they still worried about framing if the MLB will move to an automated strike zone?

The ABS challenge system has a limited amount of challenges. When they go to a full ABS, it won't, but who knows when they'll go there.

Kantrovitz took Horton with underslot and then went with Jackson Ferris in the 2nd. I think there is an overslot in the 2nd the Cubs really like.

Somehow MLBN found someone more annoying than Tony Vitello (Harold Reynolds in a zone of his own). This Greg guy and his early 90's comps? Please stop. Stop.

More Callis and Brozdowski. Less this...entire table of dorks.

Well Wicks, Shaw and Smith were all fallers who went lower than expected so anyone who anticipated an underslot for them didn't have correct information.

I don't understand why people like to show that they own items of clothing when they realize that the camera is on them.

AJ Russell's been my round 2 guy for weeks, so hoping to go that direction obviously

Quentin Young would be extremely fun though, and would be consistent with Conrad being an underslot
