Sometimes it throws me off when people change avatars.

The big one for me is that I mentally cluster similar posters together, and sometimes I forget to distinguish them. For example:

SSR and XZero77

T2E and BK

Geech and Diffusion

The list goes on. Anyone else do this?

BTW Geech, it took me a while to seriously read your posts when you first started posting because it felt like every one of your posts had a  smiley implying some sarcasm.

I just like finding out about NSBB posters. Some of them I'll be like "huh, (username) is female? I wouldn't have guessed by the username. They're a damn good poster" Or "Huh, Raisin is black. Cool."

Ok, just by my username and post history how many of you thought I was a big fat hairy overweight white boy? All of you? Thought so.

You're all correct in that assumption, btw. ;)

Raisin is Indian...

Oh.

Well aren't I an idiot?

I thought he was referring to the Dusty quote a few years ago where he said black people were better in the sun and hot weather. I just assumed.

Ok, my bad. I'll shut up now before I get myself into trouble.

I was referring to the Dusty quote - brown skin is pretty dark, Indians should be good in the sun, etc. :P

And you're not the first one to think I was white based on my Rich Hill avatar - except the other person who decided I was white actually knew my skin color/ethnicity.

Also, I'm not 6'5, nor a lefty, nor do I throw one of the prettiest curve balls in all of baseball.

I'm sure you don't mean anything by it, but it sounds like it's implied that it's shocking to know that a female can be a good poster or know a thing or two about baseball. I hate the stereotype that females can't/don't know anything about sports. It's not you...*lots* of people have that stereotype and it's ill-concieved and just plain wrong.

^^ I agree, but for some reason I tend to think of all the posters here as white males. I guess its my eurocentric upbringing combined with being in a mostly guy oriented subject matter. Obviously I don't look at anyone differently once I find out that they don't fit my admittadly narrow mold of person, but it does come as a "shocker", not because I think females don't know anything about sports, but because I already labeled a person as someone else in my mind.

Hope I didnt run around in circles too much there.

I always assumed JonMDavis was a Hispanic female poster. I mean, that seemed like an obvious assumption based on his user name. Oh how my world crashed down when we started the pics page.

Hey, I know there are quite a few knowldegable female Cub fans out there. And you're right. It sounded bad, but I didn't mean anything by it.

As long as you're a Cub fan and can contribute to a conversation, I don't care if you're male, female, or other.

Hermaphrodite, maybe?

Although that would be better discribed as "both" than "other."

I'm glad I don't look like MY avatar... I wouldn't even be an animate object!!

I thought he was Jon Davis that wrote that horrible column every week in the Daily Herald. It was Cub Week and it came out on Friday.

I also thought Jon was at least 40. Just came off that way.

Corey doesn't steal a bunch of homers a year, though. Maybe if he half the heart of a Torii Hunter, he would have some homers in his glove instead of in the stands.

The wall in Minnesota isn't as high as the one in Wrigley.... he would only steal homers on the road.

Those are just weak excuses. Corey needs to start stepping up in the stealing of home runs department. He has only grabbed one so far this year and that was a month or so ago.
