Catching up on what I missed. So the following xBAs by the Cubs have been outs today?

.950, .940, .870 .710, .510

Add another .710 to that

I think it speaks to Abbott's stuff having deception if this many hitters just aren't getting around quick enough. They're just a tick late from pulling.

That's generous. Keeping 107 off the bat in the park doesn't suggest a skill to me

That’s 4 extra bases the Cubs defense has given the Reds in the last 2 innings and 2 runs have scored directly due to those extra bases

Just one of those days where nothing goes right. Abbott was very lucky and Rea has been pretty unlucky.

Is it July yet? Want to see what Jed cooks up for SP additions. The patchwork rotation has filled in admirably well but not sure how long it’s sustainable to have a staff with a couple of number 3 starters and 3 more marginal guys

107 stays in the park quite often. Especially when hit to center.

It is still not a skill to just have them hit 107mph balls to center.

I get this and agree with everyone who says they need a saying pitcher and a late inning pen arm. But who? Who is even available. I like Joe Tyan, but why would the Twins trade him and what would they have to give up. What pitchers are really available? I know people mention Alcantara. He has just been bad this year. Eflin is another name. Last few times out he is getting hit hard.  I just don’t see too many available starting pitchers. I would love Gore, but he is going to cost a lot.

Yusei Kikuchi is a pretty solid upgrade and realistic, if the Cubs are willing to absorb the contract.

Kikuchi has taken a massive step back. His ERA is suppressing how much of a step back he's made.

The Cubs should not want that contract.

He's allowed 5 hr in 9 starts. He doesn't have big velo and he's always racked up big K numbers. It's pretty clear his pitches are hard to pick up and the deception helps his stuff play up.

Cubs struck out twice today and hit rockets. Maybe, previously he pitched well and struck a lot of guys out. But today he was not good. If he typically gets hit this hard, by the end of the year his era will be in the mid to high 4,s

Moises probably coming back with that oblique strain for Amaya

Probably not.

Id put heavy money its Reese McGuire. Ballesteros is starting tonight at DH for Iowa. They're in Columbus so they're close but hed be sitting if he was coming up, IMO.

I would expect a heavier Carson Kelly dose than we have seen, switching from the flip-flop starts to like a 2-on one-off (Reese starts) situation.

Seiya, you risk hyperextending your knee and winding up on the IL sliding when it isn’t necessary. Run to home base standing.
