Ricketts only cares about making money.  Does a big Tucker extension help or risk him making more money is the real question.

The Cubs goal is to spend as little money as it takes to field a team competitive enough to fill the seats and maintain Marquee ratings most of the year and hopefully get into the playoffs & roll the dice.

I don’t disagree with this, but what does surprise me is so many people say this as if this is anything different than any other owner in any sport, including baseball. All owners number one goal is to make as much money as possible. Sure, a few owners will overextend but believe me that is because they think it is how they can make even more money.

What possible logic can you extract from trading bellinger to dump salary and vetoing a Bregman deal if the goal isn’t to retain Tucker? Other than a playoff mandate for Jed by ownership I’d be shocked if they don’t make a big offer.

Trading for Tucker in the first place raises the bar of expectation from fans and will piss off marquee subscribers letting him walk around which is half of his revenue.

hipe his wife green lights Chicago.

I will take it as truth and feel great about it. Finally that Bellinger money is being appropriated appropriately.

All hail King Tuck!

Ownership vetoed signing Bregman too. Hopefully tuckers the reason.

What would be a "really looks like we made a good faith offer that we know he'll never accept"?

3/$120 million, with opt out after one year.

Your typical: “You get to opt out after a year, but if you tank in 2026, you’ve probably tanked your market. Ha ha. Oh no, we said the quiet part loud.”
