Part of me is impressed at their gall, part of me is annoyed at how it feels like they're just throwing horsefeathers at the wall.

I don't think seeing the Tomlin situation and placing a call is throwing horsefeathers at the wall.

I wouldn't have been thrilled with a Tomlin hire, let alone a trade, but at the same time I'm not mad they called, either.

Steelers really love their stability if they didn't even entertain it though.

Tomlin signed a 3 year 50Mil extension in June, complete with a no-trade clause. This reeks of the Bears leaking to show they are willing to pay whatever it takes for a HC.

and thats great as long as they get the best HC

I would never, ever want to trade real assets for a coach, no matter how good the coach is. You shouldn’t spend player acquisition capital on something that should only cost money.

ask the 2024 Bears if coaching matters

I'm not sure if Tomlin is worth whatever the Bears were willing to trade, but good coaches are worth whatever they get paid

Sure, pay them whatever they want. Dont ever give up a draft pick for one, good lord

Then it’s a good leak

Depends. If Kyle Shanahan ever became available, you do it. There are a few coaches that are worth more than draft picks.

Dan Quinn was the better coach over Eberflus and Daniels is going to be the better QB. I’m not blaming Poles for picking Caleb #1 since it was the right decision at the time, but Daniels is incredibly impressive.

Everyone was saying Stroud was leaps and bounds better than Bryce Young last year... Young really closed that gap this year. Caleb's stats aren't that much worse than Daniels', it's just that Daniels' team is a lot better around him, not to mention the actual NFL coaching staff

RGIII was on a similar path to Daniels, before injuries wrecked his career.

I love what Daniels is doing and want him to keep up this level of play, but nothing's guaranteed in this league.

I'll stand by my personal opinion of Dan Campbell: His horsefeathers will work really well until it doesn't, and when it blows up, its gonna blow up bad.

Goff turned into a pumpkin and his defense had about as many injuries as the Bears O-Line... I don't think he's anything special, but this result isn't evidence of your point

They aren't?  And I'm saying this as someone who believes in Caleb and holds out hope he can equal or surpass Daniels with the right coach.

Daniels' completion percentage for 6.5% higher

His Y/A was 1.1 yards higher

He rushed for twice as many yards

He scored 11 more TD

His passer rating was 100.1 compared to 87.8

His QBR was 23.7 higher

I think the gap between their play this year is pretty large but by no means insurmountable.  Caleb was dealt a really ****** hand and showed intangibles that we should be excited about (then again so did Daniels). Obviously need to make a leap next year and keep improving.  It does suck to be sitting here in this situation again, but I still feel pretty good about things despite what we've seen so far.

they'll be fine. defense was already a mash unit coming into the game.

to give some kind of equivalence, imagine if the bears defense were coming into a game against a good offense and sweat, dexter, edmunds, edwards, stevenson were already out then as soon as the game starts gordon gets hurt

Gotta be honest, didn't realize Daniel's had pulled away that much statistically.

Eddie George interviewing tomorrow?  I guess that satisfies the Rooney rule and the Bears will be free to go full steam after Johnson, if that's what they want.

The fact that after interviewing a gazillion candidates they still aren’t Rooney Rule approved so they have to rush in Eddie George to go hard after Ben Johnson is another layer of Bears stupid
