I feel like every time I see Reichel's name he's either like, getting sent down to Rockford/healthy scratched or proclaimed as a future first liner of the next contending Hawks team. Is it still somehow both?

He started the season as a healthy scratch but has worked his way back into the lineup, working up from 4C to playing on the top line at times. He’s played reasonably well and has a 2 year contract so it’s a pretty good assumption to have him in future plans. Nothing guaranteed (except his money) of course

Taylor Hall will be a healthy scratch tonight in Vancouver. This is a head scratcher. What the hell, Richardson?

No offense again from the Hawks.

Bedard is on pace for 14 goals and 60 total points this year. That seems like a concerning pace

he's still 19. It's not concerning to me, it just sucks he's not breaking out as fast as we thought

Why he is still handcuffed to Kurashev is beyond me. It's infuriating how many times he fails to win a puck battle. Donato's goal scoring pace will slow down, but at least he can grind it along the boards. Hall is the only one who hasn't skated with Bedard yet this season and I'm still miffed as to why he was a healthy scratch last night. The Hawks were out skated and out muscled all night. Seems we could've used a big body that can skate!

Non winning hockey coaches do not last. Collitan lasted 12 games into his third season. Savard barely made it past year one. The last guy to make it through three consecutive losing seasons did it when Hitler* was still alive.

Richardson was set up to fail as a coach and nobody expected much this season.  But most expected better. NHL coaches take the fall regularly, fair or not. It’s probably not fair and he probably doesn’t deserve to be fired. But history suggests the Blackhawks cannot keep playing at this (lack of) pace and keep the head coach employed. And the current throw anything against the wall strategery and non-communication with veterans can be turning people off.

Davidson may not be beholden to NHL history, but he’s going to start feeling pressure to make changes.

And if Bedard doesn't start scoring soon (he did have 2 assists last night) Richardson will probably take the fall - fair or not.

I believe it's going to be several years before we see anything significant from Bedard.

If we don’t see anything significant from bedard for several years you will not see him with the Blackhawks

Probably, more of downer hot-take on my part, there's not a lot to be optimistic about, Blackhawks are the way to losing a horsefeathers-ton of games again.  Which might be palatable if it was with a roster full of young developing players.  But, this roster of veterans who have no future with the Blackhawks, what's the point?

The point going in was to give those young kids more time in AHL. I think it’s justifiable. Bertuzzi is probably the only vet of consequence taking up roster and cap space and providing nothing. He’ll probably get better but you can’t expect a ton.

they were going to lose a ton this year regardless. They’ve looked more competent despite all the losing. It can’t hurt to add a top three pick next summer.

But bedard has to be better this year and will be next season. if not, those extension talks will be interesting

this might be a hot take also, but I think Chicago sports fans are being a little hard on Bedard right now because of the overall state of Chicago sports. we really need him to be a star

I'm still not worried, just bored

Bedard is fine. His lack of production speaks to other glaring issues like coaching and lack of offensive talent up and down the roster. It certainly isn't for lack of effort or his individual talent.

Chicago is quietly in a bit of a pickle with goalies. Brossoit is going to miss the first half, forcing Soderblom to surpass the games played number that would allow them to send to Rockford without waivers.

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Chicago Blackhawksgoalie Laurent Brossoit underwent a second surgery on his right knee and is expected to miss at least six more weeks, Blackhawks coach Luke Richardson said on Friday.

Brossoit, 31, initially underwent meniscus surgery in late August and was expected to miss five-to-seven weeks. His recovery was on track during training camp and he was expected back with the team early in the season, but he later had more knee issues. He recently had further tests done and another procedure was recommended. Richardson described the procedure as a clean-up after the first surgery. Brossoit is expected to be re-evaluated in about six weeks, the Blackhawks said.

Halfway through the 1st period, the Hawks made TNT blackout the game in Chicago. This was after the Hawks told media members this would not happen. They sure hate their fans.
