I don't claim to know much about him as a prospect, but my first reaction would be why? There's a limited number of slots and he's still hard struggling after repeating A ball.

Because good pitching prospects don’t normally go unless they really need to make up lost innings.

I know teams don't generally send their best and brightest pitching-wise but unless these guys have popped under the radar this year this is a particularly sad crop.

Looks like Sam Thoresen was added to Mesa's roster, probably only for the taxi squad.

Opening day is today.

On opening night, Ballesteros is batting third at catcher, Cowles batting eight and playing short.

Depending on who is playing I plan on taking in the game on Thursday. These are fun games. But I would like to see at least 2 Cubs in the line up.

Game still going but Ballesteros is 1/3 with a single and Long is 2/3 with a double and a single.

He's got a lot of Joey Ortiz in his profile, if the reduction in K's is something that sticks long term.
