Another radio feed game, like damnit Marquee. Ridiculous how we used to have Ken and JD for 162 every year and now we get Sutcliffe/Demspter/Girardi for about 50-60 games

I'm curious whether they think fans want this, or is it necessary to meet contractual demands?  Or is it a cost-saving measure?

I would rather have a lesser-tier broadcasting crew that is able to stay together every game than a better crew that frequently takes days off.

Probably a contractual thing. See: cost-saving.

So either/or.

In other words, "We aren't willing to pay you quite enough to broadcast every game, but how about we pay you less and you just do some games?  Then we can throw a few pennies at Sutcliffe, Dempster, Girardi, etc to fill in the gaps."

I’m pretty sure that JD has negotiated his work schedule to minimize travel and have vacation. It’s not the same as it was.

i hate the Sinclair/Ricketts as much as the next guy, but I don’t think they are the problem.

It would be better if they had a standard fill in that wasn’t Suttcliffe. Gerardi is just a gumba jock. Sutt is on an entire other level of awful. He tries too hard to be a nice guy.

I would like to see Boog and JD every day. I do like them best. However I don’t care that much. And I really don’t care enough to talk about it every time either Boog or JD are off. Welcome to baseball 2024. Announcers get time off. Who really cares? The  Cubs have way more things to complain about. Announcers would be far down my list.

Marquee could have a fascination with former Cub players, so get as many of them as possible to the booth to “give the fans what they want.” Sutcliffe, Demspter, Girardi fit the bill and they are on semi-regular. Jon Lester was in the booth once this year. Dexter Fowler does work for Marquee, so you’ll probably see him in the booth at some point.

Unfortunately, Marquee can’t read the room because…. read the room.

Can you imagine Sutcliffe and Grace in the booth with Boog

I'm legitimately curious what the situation is with Grace.  He shows up in the Marquee pre/post show once in a blue moon, but other than that he is never seen.  He also wasn't at the Cubs HOF ceremony last Sunday, although many other former players including his fellow inductee from last year (Dunston) were there.  He seems to be a bit of a black sheep in the Cubs organization, possibly for very good reasons.

Listening to sut is akin to watching him pitch later in his career when he'd throw to first 14 times per batter. Or do the chronic third to first fake out that never ever faked anybody
