I'm legitimately curious what the situation is with Grace.  He shows up in the Marquee pre/post show once in a blue moon, but other than that he is never seen.  He also wasn't at the Cubs HOF ceremony last Sunday, although many other former players including his fellow inductee from last year (Dunston) were there.  He seems to be a bit of a black sheep in the Cubs organization, possibly for very good reasons.

Probably based on his past felony

Roberto Clemente award “Positive contributions, both on and off the field.”

The ladies like Patrick Wisdom, so I suppose that’s a positive.

Who is this pitcher wearing the Kyle Hendricks mask on the mound?

Everyone acts like getting good start out of Hendricks is a miracle but he hasn’t been that bad for a while outside of the occasional blow up start. I get it, those blow up starts add up and are what separate a mediocre pitcher from a bad pitcher but when he’s on he can still be a passable starting pitcher.

Here are his starts since rejoining the rotation on a mostly full-time basis:

6 IP, 1 ER

4.1 IP, 2 ER

5 IP, 2 ER

1.2 IP, 6 ER

4.2 IP, 3 ER

5 IP, 1 ER

6 IP, 2 ER

5 IP, 3 ER

5 IP, 6 ER

5 IP, 3 ER

7 IP, 0 ER

2 blowup starts (one where a majority of the runs scored came after a bad defensive play that would have ended the inning) but the other 9 were somewhere between passable and solid.  Not rushing to bring him back next year or anything but it’s not a miracle if he has a decent start.

Not picking on you JHBulls, just something I see every time Kyle pitches when he’s been decent or better more often than not for quite awhile.

I would have guessed Charlie Blackmon was a certified Cub killer but I just looked at his career splits and the Cubs have actually held him to the 3rd lowest OPS of any team to face him more than. 80 PA (basically besides AL teams)

I needed to be set straight. I was being unnecessarily harsh as I’ve watched every Hendricks start and he’s had some very good to superb start, as you’ve pointed out.

And you never need to worry about if I feel like you’re picking on me. I know you weren’t. 🙂

Opposite field HR for PCA. Huge 9th.

I almost made a post earlier that I really hoped Busch could get number 20 and PCA get number 10 before the end of the season and instead they got there today.

Michael Busch, such a great acquisition. Dodgers are regretting that trade.

I'm sure it stings a bit to see him turn out to be a solid MLB 1B but they never would have been able to give him the opportunity that he got with the Cubs and they ended up getting a consensus Top 100 prospect for him so I'm gonna guess they feel ok about the exchange.

You have to think the Cubs wouldn't mind a comparable return for one of their similarly blocked AAA players.
