Will Sanders is probably done for the night:

5 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K on 70 pitches

Sanders actually went out for the 6th and ended up giving up an earned run:

6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 8 K on 80 pitches.

Impressive to give up two hits and a run, strike out a guy...but still only throw 10 pitches.

I know y’all don’t care lol, but that’s off Doug Nikhazy. Former Ole Miss great. Friday Nights aka “Doug Day” was electric. He was a monster in college. Cleveland took him in the 2nd round a couple years ago. Hoping he makes it. Just a fierce Friday night starter for 3 years in the SEC.

Two pitchers selected by the Cubs in last month's draft made their pro debuts in the game.

6'6 222 LHP Hayden Frank (Cubs 15th round draft pick - Lipscomb University) threw two innings (28 pitches -18 strikes) and allowed two runs on three hits (including two doubles) and no walks, and he struck out one (looking). Frank's FB sat 90-92, and he also displayed a mid-80's CH and a 75-77 CV.

6'0 180 LHP Christian Gordon (Cubs 16th round draft pick - Virginia Commonwealth) also threw two innings (39 pitches - 28 strikes) and allowed two runs on three hits (a solo HR, a double, and a single) and no walks, and struck out four (all four swinging). The polished little lefty featured a 89-91 FB and an 83-85 CH.

RHP Luis Martinez-Gomez got the start for the ACL Cubs and threw two innings (48 pitches - 31 strikes) of shutout ball with five strikeouts (four swinging). He was showing a 92-93 FB (it was 91-94 last time out), a mid-80's CH, and a 80-82 SWEEP. In his two ACL Cubs bridge game appearances, Martinez-Gomez has thrown four shutout innings (allowing two hits & three walks) with eight strikeouts.

RHRP Mason McGwire (on Myrtle Beach Development List) made his second bridge game appearance and was dominating, throwing gas and strikes (95-98 MPH FB combined with a 90-91 CUT and a 79-81 SWEEP), striking out four of the first six men he faced (three swinging). He has apparently junked his signature SPLIT.

Cubs 2024 4th round draft pick Ty Southisene (Basic Academy - Henderson, NV) continued his hot hitting, going 2-3 with two singles and a walk. He is now 7-11 with three walks and three stolen bases in his first five pro games. However, he also committed his third error. (Southisene plays a bit too fast at SS, and despite playing SS in HS and for the Team USA 18U squad, he actually looks much more relaxed and comfortable at 3B, at least for now).

Wouldn't complain if Martínez-Gómez gets up to Myrtle Beach to end the season.

Hope Southisene hits the weights this offseason. All 7 of his hits have been singles but otherwise, he seems as advertised - good bat-to-ball and good eye.

Feels like Kilian should be done at Iowa.  Bring him up to the MLB bullpen for long relief IMO.

Stick him in the rotation in place of Hendricks.

I don't have a ton of confidence Kilian will stick as a SP but yeah this is where I'm at.  Maybe we start by having him piggyback a time or three and see how that goes, but he should be up and Hendricks should be the guy losing innings for it.
