As he mentioned, we’ve been consistent trade partners over the last decade. Tauch would make sense there.

Tauchmann seems like a no brainer to trade for me, but what would the Yankees give up that would make Nico worth dealing? Jed has already said he wants pieces aimed at improving 2025+. The Yankees are supposedly reluctant to include Spencer Jones in any deal for Skubal so he certainly wouldn't be involved, plus the Cubs already have better Spencer Jones in Kevin Alcantara.

Spencer Jones is broken anyways. His contact and K% rates are absolutely in the tanker. I wouldn't have any interest in him for Nico.

Agreed. Alcantara has a much lower K%, is younger, is putting up better numbers at the same level and is a far better player defensively and many want him dealt. I just don't see what the Yankees could give up for Nico. I guess Dominguez, but I would find that highly unlikely.

Aside from obviously the Cubs the Yankees have been the team most consistently tied to Bellinger over the last year and a half.  I could see something where we agree to the framework of two deals, one for Bellinger assuming he's good to go and a plan B for Tauchman in case Cody's not.

I thought the Yankees were under financial constraints? I can't imagine them risking taking on Cody for more than 2024.

It's possible that such a deal might be contingent upon Bellinger agreeing to decline his options. Maybe a negotiated buyout of them.

I know they've given him a lot of at bats but do you think they'd part with Austin Wells?

I'd also be interested in Brock Selvedge and Roderick Arias but I don't know that I'd part with Nico for that.

They've got a ton of money coming off the books this winter, so they might be worried about taking on 2024 dollars but unless they're trying to reset their LT this winter wouldn't think next year's as much of a worry.  Plus 3 of the guys leaving are LHH OF/1B in Soto, Verdugo, and Rizzo so they might actually be rooting for Bellinger to stay.

Hasn't been a rumor connecting them, but in a similar vein I'm trying to manifest Tauchman for Drake Baldwin myself.

Wow, talk about a Statcast darling.  He would be a very fun get.

Rizzo is hurt and/or broken right? Can we just take him back in the deal, reduce the Yankees 2024 payroll concerns, give PTR a nostalgia driven cash infusion around wrigley, and open up CF for either PCA or a more creative idea this offseason?
