How close are we to Fun-Bad territory?

Already there, wasn't it fun watching Happ think he had PCA speed and try to score from first on a bloop single 😅

horsefeathers. Shows how much I've fallen off.

TBH I thought it was like his 2nd or 3rd start before I checked because I noticed him there on Monday, so I think you're far from alone on that one.

Also I just saw the Happ play where he got thrown out and it wasn't quite as egregious as I had imagined. Sky high pop up to the dead zone in shallow left center played, with two outs, played super casually by center, with PCA coming up to hit. Obviously it didn't work and Willie Harris deserves no benefit of the doubt, but I could see the reasoning.

PCA: gets hit by pitch, steals second, steals third, doing everything he can to be valuable

Hoerner: just relax dude, I got this

Why they need to keep PCA up, he may not be hitting much but anytime he reaches base his speed can turn into a run.

Haha well this particular instance isn't the best example of that (and probably almost a counter argument in the lesser value of stolen bases in a TTO world). No point in risking getting thrown out on the bases if the next dude is going to park one.

Having said that, stolen bases are fun, we should embrace fun.

PCA has a nice quick bat. He needs to let the ball come to him a little bit. He's rolling over a lot pitches when he makes contact.

If PCA's a +15 defender in center and steals 60-something bases at a 90+% clip the offensive bar is absolutely on the floor.  Like to the point if he can get his OBP to start with a 3 he's an all star.

Looks like the good version of Shota showed up today, just flipped over from the Twins game.

He might have been scared straight after the lead off man just missed a home run three feet foul.

He's got his best velo of the year one start after having his worst.  I think he needed the breather from getting knocked out early last time around.

Makes sense. Not only is this the prime dead-arm portion of the season but moving from a Japanese rotation to an American one is surely taxing.

Kid can keep his OBP up to at least 320 over his career, he'll be successful
