Wiggins' final line: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 3 K on only 51 pitches. Thought he might have had a chance at the 5th but I guess not.

Myrtle Beach ERA down to 1.98. 16 Ks and 2 BB in 13.2 innings.

Admittedly a very small amount of viewing by me, but the stuff doesn't seem as electric as it was pre draft. Granted the control has vastly improved.

If Wiggins continues throwing strikes like this I assume he hits South Bend essentially as soon as he gets fully stretched out?  As a well decorated SEC arm bullying kids in low A is probably not doing anything development-wise.

As with any TJS survivor, the big goal should always be finishing the season healthy and productive, even if the stuff isn't stellar. He needs to build his arm back up, and his breaking/offspeed pitches should follow.

Yeah I watched him pitch multiple times in college and you pretty much nailed it. He looked way more electric, fastball velo was better, less control.

I imagine you can chalk this up to working off the rust. Hopefully the velo can tick back up in the 97-98 range. I’ve seen him touch triple digits in college. Not that he can’t be effective at 95, it’s more the fact that I know there was more in there pre TJ. I’m more than fine being patient before saying this is who he is now though.

To be fair, he was sitting 97 in his first two starts at Myrtle Beach (which, to be fair, were also shorter outings).

In that little clip, I thought Wiggins fastball looked pretty bouncy.  Not sure he can control what it's doing, but it seemed to have pretty good life to me?  Seemed kind of Ben-Brown-ish to me.  If his fastball had way more life and action last pre-surg, he must have had a LOT back then.
