After losing 2 series over a 2 month span, they're about to lose back to back series with one of them being against the worst team in the NL.

The team is running on fumes right now.  This is the 27th game for the Cubs in the last 27 days.

At least the Tigers have Eduardo Rodriguez going tonight against the Reds Connor Phillips who got lit up in his first career start last time out.  Giants are losing 5-1 (I thought it was a night game, whoops).

I wouldn't say that this comes as a complete surprise though.  There have been signs up trouble even during the streak of series wins.  Good on the Cubs for winning as many of those games as they did, but they are still a flawed team and the injuries certainly aren't helping.

No not a surprise.  They've been playing poorly for about a month now.  Not every day, not every part of the team, but as a whole they have not played that well.  A light schedule and some luck in close games covered this up quite well but it looks like that luck is changing.  Hopefully they can use the off days coming up to recharge and get hot the last 2 weeks because I'm not sure they make it to the finish line the way the team is playing right now.  Only saving grace is the other WC contenders are also thoroughly mediocre

With off days coming up tomorrow and Monday, do you give your starters an extra day of rest or do you use it as a way to skip Taillon's next start?  It's horsefeathers crunch time, I don't want him starting any more games than absolutely necessary.

If he's healthy, he's healthy.  Do you really think they rushed their massive long-term investment back to the lineup in a lost season just because they are playing the Cubs?  The timing just so happened to line up, unfortunately for the Cubs.
