I’ve been bracing for this. His xFIP as a starter is like 2.30 runs higher than his ERA though I don’t think he’s looked bad by any means

thats ok we have Taillon as a pick-me-up tomorrow against a cy young contender

I can't get worked up about Assad having a bad start.  The Cubs have already got more out of him than anyone could have expected.  If they lose this one, just shrug it off and move on to tomorrow.  Of course, there are still plenty of innings left for the Cubs offense to overcome the deficit.

Also I know I’m overreacting and it’s been a whole 2 days since we came back from a 3-0 deficit in the 3rd inning

Between this and Lyon Richardson, it's been a pretty aggravating run against pitchers we should be demolishing. This and Sunday's game are the ones the Cubs need to win.

Basically, he was completely lost against that pitcher

In aggregate, their pen has been pretty bad, so still got a decent chance. Frustrating game offensively but they probably should have had a few more too. We built up enough of a cushion to not freak out about this, just need to avoid a bad streak.
