You're all going to be thrilled to hear this is an ATV+ broadcast, I'm sure.

This series is the last challenging team for the Cubs until they meet the Brewers at the end of August. A lot of movement in both the NLC and the WC are possible between now and then and if the Cubs are going to strike, they're not going to find a better stretch than this, provided they can get past the Jays.

I don't know what Apple does, but the broadcast is beautiful. It's almost like going from black and white to color.

Their presentation is typically Apple in its polish and simplicity. I REALLY like their visual presentation, though their on-screen odds system is garbage and their announcers hit-or-miss.

I listen to Pat and Ron on the MLB.TV app on my phone. The Sync is not the best, but I don't care

It looks exactly like you would expect an Apple presentation to be. Same fonts, colors, etc. as a Mac.

Do you own a Mac? There is a very specific aesthetic to iOS and the Apple TV+ broadcast uses the same aesthetic

The picture quality is outstanding. The HD is HD+++. Going back to Marquee after one of the ATV games is startling.  I don't know what aesthetics you are talking about though.

On-screen fonts, graphics, etc. It's an austere presentation that looks like iOS

I guess I haven't noticed. I don't really pay attention to the extra stuff. It may be because I'm listening to Pat and Ron on the MLB app.

I agree their announcers are hit or miss, and more miss.  But is it any worse than listening to two guys who obviously don't like each other (Boog and Girardi) try to prove who the smartest guy in the room is

No, overall I think the Apple broadcasts are middle of the pack, maybe a touch on the below average side at times. Same as Boog and Girardi. I like Boog just fine when he's not with Girardi.

Not to set this off the rails, but I didn't like Boog at first (he was replacing Len), then I sort of liked him for a minute or two, then I went right back to not liking him at all. He's frequently making mistakes on calls (which he doesn't need to make at all because we can see it), he's overly talkative in a benign but inane way, and he's just not a local broadcaster. I still get the feeling that he's being dropped in and flown out of Chicago after games. He also might be the only person on the planet more into FB and GB percentage than our very own Tom.

I'm disappointed about this being outside of Marquee. I'm working 2am-6pm and I was going to watch until I fell asleep.

They should have just bought TheU or some other local channel. They would be the only game in town that isn't on cable or an app and we'd always know where to find the game.

Pretty sure Apple TV+ broadcast is in 1080p and Marquee broadcasts in something closer to 720p, so that be part of the reason the broadcast looks sharper (in addition to sleek graphics, etc).  I like it much better than the Peacock broadcasts at least, though horsefeathers streaming.

The Jays are on their own stretch of 17 in a row with the Cubs getting games 15-17

And similar to the Braves last Friday, the Cubs had a day off yesterday and presumably were in Toronto while the Jays were finishing up a series in Cleveland.  Their game was a day game, but it was on the road so they had to travel afterward.

The Blue Jays and A's are tied for the least number of all-time games played against the Cubs with 18.  The Cubs have visited Toronto 5 times now, but the Jays have only come to Wrigley twice, which I'm guessing is the least amount for any team in baseball.

I can't even really think of too many memorable Cubs/Jays moments.  One that stands out was in 2017 when the teams went into the 10th inning tied at 3 and the Jays scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th, followed by the Cubs getting 3 in the bottom of the inning to win the game, with the key hit being Alex Avila's single, and Javy with his amazing pop up slide:

The only other games I can remember are Sergio Mitre before we knew he was a scumbag outdueling Roy Halladay at Wrigley in 2005, and the Cubs again getting a win against Halladay in 2008 to put themselves 20 games over .500 in mid-June.

I was at that series and one thing that stuck out is - it was the biggest number of visiting fans I'd ever seen at Wrigley and I've seen the Cubs play all but about 5 or 6 teams at Wrigley.   And you couldn't really tell until the Blue Jays did something good becaue they wear the same color blue as the Cubs.

This is something I didn't realize until a couple years ago, the Jays are Canada's team and they travel very well.  Living in Washington you'd hear grumbles because when the Jays go to Seattle they basically take over the stadium despite being thousands of miles from Toronto.
