Part of his crummy start was bad luck(his LOB% was absurdly low), but the graphic they showed earlier with his numbers v. LHH during this stretch is the thing.  He's (re)figuring something out against them and that's going a long way.

I'm on the Reds broadcast so I missed that graphic.

I personally think that the did some black magic and stole Stroman's mojo

Not an exact match but here's his numbers v. LHH by month

And as you can see here this hasn't been a historical problem for him

Is there a good reason to have not just left Merryweather in there? Only had thrown 14 pitches and the 7 hitter was up with nobody on base. Gave up the HR but also struck out 3 guys.

I'm sure this is statistically wrong, but I hate bringing in a closer with two outs in the 8th. 90% of the time these guys throw in the bullpen, jog in, warm up, and pitch until the game is over. Making them go and sit in the dugout for the bottom half of the inning, one that typically involves pitching changes, and then sending them back out there after not throwing for 10-15 minutes, seems like it would totally throw them off their rhythm.

Adbert's been a starter more than a reliever in his career, tho

Dammit....he was probably gonna get thrown out but I wish Dansby could have scored there.

BTW, De La Cruz due up 3rd in the 9th. 😱

Last time Adbert came out for a 4 out save Tauchman had to save the game.  Don't think he can scale the wall at Wrigley so better just get 3 strikeouts.
