Good news is you can also watch the Bulls get blown out if you get bored of the Cubs getting blown out. Typical Chicago sports fans dilemma.

At least during the tank era we had good prospects to look forward to

That’s why I’m certain the retool is ultimately going to take longer than the rebuild, if it even works at all. Cubs have some good things going for them for sure but they simply don’t have enough impact talent either in the majors or the farm

Well despite not scoring for the first 16 innings of the series the Brewers have outscored the Cubs 11-7 so far lol

Does PCA not exist in your world?

Just pulling from FG but in 2014 the Cubs had the 4th, 6th, 8th, 22nd best prospects in baseball.

In 2015 they had the 1st, 3rd, 13th, 21st best prospects.

this year PCA is 14 and the next best is 73rd.

KB was a 70 FV prospect, Russell 65.  PCA is a 60

The Cubs had a staggering amount of elite level talent in 2014-2015.  They just don’t now.  Doesn’t mean there’s not plenty of good stuff going on down there and players to be excited about though.

Gotta love the “we’re down 7 runs so the offense finally puts some hits together to make the overall numbers look more respectable

isn't that exactly what it means

I didn’t really think the rankings matter to a large degree, but production and development do matter. Does anyone think if somehow the Cardinals had PCA and we had Walker the situation would be the same? Walker would be AA with a ton of potential and a 35% K rate. PCA would be Jim Edmonds’ illegitimate child manning CF in St. Louis.

Not really. A bunch of FV 50 players means MLB regulars which is great. FV 65-70 players are future franchise cornerstones the exact players the Cubs desperately lack right now  they had 3-4 of them during the last rebuild, 0 now

at least that’s how I understand it, I’m not a prospect guru

Yeah. Overall when I look at our roster/lineups right now the feeling is extremely meh. Full of meh. All the meh.

Meh.

That was a likely outcome anyway. Even if Jed did everything as well as Theo did, which is obviously debatable, everything working out as it did with the guys Theo acquired in the tank years had to be like a 97+ percentile outcome even with it not ending very well.

90s cubs without the Sandberg then Sosa star power

Understanding "star power" is not the same as production necessarily, Dansby's WAR last year would have been the 3rd best season in Ryno's career 😅.  Both defensive MI with respectable amount of pop in the bat,

The Sosa match will be a little tougher...if Bellinger randomly despite no signs of this being possible turned back into MVP form maybe

Even though that's true, it's disgusting.
