But really, if we have to be subjected to an objectively evil baseball organization, why are they a bunch of weenies and don't go all in with the actual baseball? Steal signs. Cheat like the Astros. Blast the team with every PED known to man, and then when they're done with those, invent some new ones.

No, we get the lame cheap evil.

Sign stealing is like card counting; only nerds who can't do it gripe about it.[/quote\]

I thought there was some suggestion that his sign stealing was more elaborate. Nobody really cares about the runner at 2nd stealing signs.

There's not been a single sign-stealing "scandal" where it didn't sound cool as hell. More teams should be horsefeathering spying on each other.

I dont have an issue with the players stealing signs during play, or coaches/managers clueing in players in the dugout or via a 1st or 3rd base coach, but when you've got organizational dudes using a camera in the outfield, sending in signals to some dude who's banging on a tub I feel like you crossed a line. Plus horsefeathers Houston

Maddon was hyper-aware of shenanigans other teams were pulling because he probably had the team pulling some horsefeathers as well.

Yeah. Let the players and coaches try to figure out signs. I have no problem with that whatsoever.

But once people start using specialized equipment (cameras, binoculars, trash cans) and various other employees, it has gone too far.

Or, to put it in terms Sofa appreciates, at that point it becomes lame and now THEY'RE the nerds

The simple way to put it is if you're using crap unavailable to the other team to do your horsefeathers, you suck.

True, though the dorky spy horsefeathers is THIS close to this territory...

...which objectively rules, so I could be persuaded.

Calling the trash can a "tub" had me doing some frantic Googling for a few seconds. That story was briefly a LOT more wild than I remembered.

I'll give you banging trash cans, not hand signals in the OF

Just in the last 10 years we got the Astros scandal and the Cardinals hacking scandal. The MLB knows how to produce a good scandal

I meant the sexy story in my head of some guy horsefeathering on a bathtub relaying signs to the dugout.

The real story is super boring, and had all the planning and skill of a bunch of kids trying to to steal their friend's action figures. The rest of baseball should be horsefeathering ashamed only in that they were able to pull off something so lame and obvious for so long.

I think the pitch clock will hinder sign stealing attempts, right?

Everyone is using an electronic system, the next level will be hacking the other team’s system.
