I've sold the site!

Nope, not a joke!

I will be staying involved here and in general, things shouldn't change too much. The people buying the site are doing so because they like the culture we've built here and want to build on a good thing instead of turning it into something else.

Over the past few years, it has become clear to me that I just don't have the time to run this place properly. I don't think I've upgraded the board software in five years or so. Which means it is likely vulnerable to attacks and such. I have meant to do something with the front page for 20 years and haven't been able to keep that going after many attempts at it. And I long ago ported the board to an expensive server because it kept running out of memory and crashing. Which has meant that I've been losing money just about every month.

The new team has an actual development team that will not only modernize the board, but add a lot of bells and whistles, too. They're working to not only import the current set of posts, but also integrate in the posts from the archive.

Interesting. Would have loved to have kept the board under the radar and how it is, but given the amount of time, effort and money you've put into this site over the last 20 years, you deserve to make that decision. And it looks like you've sold it to a solid group that will put some effort into the site. Congrats to you and thanks for everything you'd done leading the board! I'm not kidding when I say that I would feel adrift if something happened to the board as its become my goto "surf out of habit" website.

Would have loved to have kept the board under the radar and how it is, but given the amount of time, effort and money you've put into this site over the last 20 years, you deserve to make that decision given the lack of time you've had. Theres a couple of them I've noticed over the years except can't remember which ones they are. I've actually often now just cut to the chase and type horsefeathers.
