Effross has been incredible since he came up. He's got great peripherals AND he's a bigtime soft contact guy. And I think the expectation was he might be a righty specialist but he's been great against lefties too.

Given how predicated it is on pure funk you have to worry he'll get figured out after the league sees him more but there hasn't been a whiff of it yet. And the Giants have Tyler Rogers who has been doing a similar thing for a couple years with no issues.

Hosmer always looks like someone told him a mildly funny joke just before he stepped into the box. And he just hit HR.

I will say that Boog and Suttcliffe have better rapport than Boog and JD. I get a feeling JD doesn’t care for him.

I would have agreed with this last year, don't feel like this is at all the case this year.

I kinda think JD's health issues last year were a lot worse than we knew, and that was the genesis of much of the weirdness.

The smart baseball move is to trade Wilson, but he's been by far my favorite Cubs for a while. He just had a great AB. I'm really going to miss him.
Trade Happ and pay Willson. There's no reason he can't continue to put up good numbers for another 4-5 years, especially managing his catching workload with DH starts.

There's, uh...a lot of reasons he wouldn't continue to put up good numbers for the next 4-5 years. About 30 of them, starting tomorrow.

They have a decent rapport but I feel like Boog kind of ignores some of the stupid horsefeathers Sutcliffe says with a mental eye-roll. Maybe I'm just projecting what I would be doing in that spot, though. Sutcliffe just is really bad at this, vacillating between making a relatively meaningless point he thinks is profound and vocally rooting for Cubs players mid-at-bat, which rubs me the wrong way.

Not to mention Harry Caray levels of drunkeness
