I feel so bad for Auburn

I don't, they played prevent defense at the end of the game and it bit them in the ass. I hate it when a team has a great defensive gameplan for 59 minutes then abandons it at the end

No way this Alabama team should stand a chance against Georgia.

They'll somehow be ranked above Cincy and Michigan again

Michigan probably didn’t deserve to be ranked above them but I wouldn’t be surprised if they jump Bama. Beating OSU was a better win than what Bama had and their loss is better.

Cincy is fine at 4. I’ve said it before but the Bama thing will work itself out. Either they beat Georgia and they deserve to be in or they lose and they drop behind Cincy. Same goes for Michigan if they’re still behind Bama this week.

So for maximum chaos…

Bama beats Georgia

Michigan loses the Big 10 title game

The winner of OU/OSU loses next week

Then you’ve got 1 loss Georgia, 1 loss Notre Dame, undefeated Cincy and a shitload of 2 loss teams. Could even have Cincy lose also.

Exact scenario I had on Page one except has Georgia beating Bama. There’s no way Georgia is going to miss the CFP and Bama winning would just secure their spot so it actually reduces the chaos.

Best realistic scenario for chaos

-Iowa over Michigan

-Georgia over Bama

-Houston over Cincinnati

-Oklahoma State over Oklahoma

-Baylor over Oklahoma State

Now you have:

0 loss Georgia (SEC champ)

1 loss Notre Dame (Not realistic that they lose today)

1 loss Cincinnati

1 loss Houston (AAC champ)

2 loss Alabama

2 loss Michigan

2 loss Ohio State

2 loss Michigan State

2 loss Iowa (Big 10 champ)

2 loss Oklahoma State

2 loss Oklahoma

2 loss Baylor (B12 champ)

2 loss Ole Miss

2 loss Oregon (potentially - Pac 12 champ)

2 loss BYU

2 loss Wake Forest/Pittsburgh (ACC champ)

Georgia and ND are locks but anything could happen with the other 2 spots (though you can probably eliminate a half dozen of the above teams)

There is absolutely no team that should be left out for Alabama if #1 Georgia is going to be the opponent. There are years the Tide have earned some benefit of the doubt, not this year.

Off the top of my head without looking everything up

Cincy is out because they lost to Houston and didn’t win their conference.

MSU is out because they lost to OSU by 49.

Oregon is out because they lost by 31 to Utah and to an 3-9 Stanford team.

Have to look at the rest later.

In that scenario, Georgia and ND are in and dear lord do I not envy the people trying to pick 2 more. Baylor probably sneaks in as a conference champ. Then you're probably arguing between Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama and Iowa somehow?

Technically I’m pretty sure somewhere in the CFP guidelines there is a line about “when in doubt pick the SEC team” so Bama would be in unless Georgia absolutely destroys them.

They'll bend over backwards to pick the four teams most likely to see good TV ratings and sell tickets. Baylor vs Cincinnati (for example) is a nightmare scenario for them

For the Illini fans out there, if they can win today to get to 5 wins, it looks like there won't be enough bowl eligible 6-win teams, and priority among 5 win teams goes to the highest academically graded 5-win team, which would be them.

Update to this: going into today, there were 82 bowl bids and 74 eligible teams, meaning 8 5-6 teams needed to win to take all the eligible bowl bids. 15 5-6 teams played today, and unfortunately for Illinois, 8 of them won (including North Texas upsetting Texas San Antonio and Virginia Tech upsetting Virginia, and Tulsa upsetting SMU), so there are exactly 82 bowl eligible teams.

At this point, the only way Illinois would end up getting a bowl bid is if one of those 82 teams declines.

Jimbo = White Sumlin

LSU can have him.

Jumbo is getting wasted and belligerent? LSU just got rid of that.
