Scherzer out for Game 6. Will be interesting to see what LA does. Could start Buehler on short rest in Game 6. But then you either have to go Urias in Game 7 on short rest or a pen game then anyway. I can't imagine one extra day of rest will make Scherzer's arm feel better all of a sudden.

I know that this will sound like "Old Man Shake Fist at Cloud", but when did managers lose their minds when it comes to managing their pitching staffs in the post season? The fact that a team could potentially have to throw a "bullpen game" in a Game 7 is mind numbing. Why does a team that won 100+ games suddenly think they only have like two good starters and that they need to micromanage every game?

That’s what happens when you have one starter get hurt literally right before the playoffs and a second starter get hurt during a series. Not to mention Dustin May blew his arm out in May and Trevor Bauer can’t have sex without choking a woman unconscious.

Sure, but managers have been over-managing the postseason for 6 or 7 years now. Maddon did it during the Cubs’ title year

pretty wild that matzek is pitching very high leverage innings through the entire postseason after about 5 years with rick ankiel/jason neighborgall disease and bouncing around various organizations and two stints in indy ball.

But why did the starter get injured during the series? It could be that it was going to happen no matter what, but it could have also been a result of pitching on short rest and/or in relief. I'm not going to absolve the Dodgers of all blame and just chalk everything up to bad luck.

We'll never know for sure but I feel like it's unlikely that Scherzer throwing 13 pitches on two days rest destroyed his arm.

And even if Scherzer goes down anyway, if Kershaw doesn't get hurt, they're probably not in this situation. They wouldn't have had to start Buehler on short rest in Game 4 of the NLDS and (assuming they win that game), they don't have to do a bullpen game in Game 5 making it less likely they need Scherzer out of the pen in Game 5. Then you've got a rested Scherzer on normal rest in Game 1 of the NLCS, your Game 4 NLDS starter on normal rest in Game 2, etc.

So even if you ignore May and Bauer, Kershaw getting hurt right before the playoffs played a huge role in this.

Glad the Dodgers are out but hate the Braves being rewarded for building a stadium for white people the year that Georgia voted to suppress voter rights.

Imagine that dumb egg sitting around and twiddling his horsefeathering meatfist fingers thinking of the lamest possible take and then settling on that.

For fun, during Spring Training I bet one team from the NL and one from the AL to win the WS. I picked the Braves at 14-1 and Astros at 25-1. I am going to win money either way but obviously would rather have the Astros win. I think they will, thought about hedging some on the Braves to guarantee the same profit no matter the outcome but I think the Astros should win this thing.

That's pretty cool to hear. Congrats on the stellar picks. Hope you win big (with the Braves).

This game has been on for 2hrs 15 min and we aren't even half way done. JFC

At least this one had runs. Game 3 was over the 2 hour mark, it was 1-0 and they weren’t even through 5.

Overmanaging + too many commercials + no pitch clock

I don't understand people bitching about watching something they purport to enjoy being too long and boring. Baseball is like an opera and for a fan of the teams/game, the ups and downs and pauses make it that much more compelling. It's for the World Series where one mistake can make or break a season.

Because nothing is happening in that extra time. We're not getting 4 hours of baseball, we're getting 2.5 hours of baseball spread over four hours. It's the sports equivalent of a Judd Apatow movie.

More like we're getting 30 minutes of baseball action over 4 hours.

Also, horsefeathers these managers and their overmanaging. Greinke had given up 3 hits on 56 pitches over 4 innings the other night and Dusty pulled him. Why? Why is this the thing now? We had World Series for over 100 years where the starter went 6 or 7 innings, now managers can't get out of their own way.

Greinke’s been hurt. Missed two starts in Sept and hasn’t pitched much in the playoffs.
