I’m sure Sonny Gray is exactly what the Cubs offense needs

(As Heyward swings at 3 consecutive breaking balls in the dirt)

This zone is terrible. I’m not even watching that much, have it on in the background and I’ve seen 4-5 calls go against the Cubs

Called 3rds to Votto and Suarez were awful also.

What was everyone’s favorite non-2016 moment of this era, before it gets broken up in a few weeks?

I think for me it was the Heyward and Bote walk off slams in 2018.

Edit: ironically Heyward’s against Adam Morgan.

I was at the Bote slam game, so that's easily tops for me.

The ridiculous NLDS clincher in Washington is probably 1B.

Should Mills stay in the rotation? He’s been far better as a starter than reliever both this year and in his career. I’ve got more confidence in him starting than any of Arrieta, Williams or Stewart.

2017 4 game series in Milwaukee with like 10 games left in the season and the Cubs up 3.5 games. Last chance for the Brewers in the division race. 1st game of the series the Cubs are down a run in the 9th. Happ beats out an IF hit on a literal tie with the ball, gets to second. 2 outs and Javy up, who somehow dribbles out through the middle to score Happ and tie it.

Bottom 9 Wade Davis has the bases loaded with 1 out, believe he gets a K and then goes 3-1 on the Brewers hitter, one ball from losing but instead gets a comebacker to end the inning.

Top 10, unclutch KB hits a 2 run HR and the Cubs win. Think they took 3 of 4 in the series and closed out the division in St Louis

Then the next day they ended St Louis’s season with a bunch of backups in the lineup.

Yes, without question.

And they ended it like this:

I really liked all the 2014 call-ups and breakouts. Soler's two dong game against the Cardinals and Arrieta's game at Fenway in particular

The 2015 playoffs. The first two rounds were so awesome I really can't be mad about getting pantsed by the Mets

Unfortunate now in hindsight, but Addison Russell's walk off defensive play where he like did the worm to flip the ball to second

I know you said no 2016, but the Dexter Fowler surprise re-signing

And yeah, those two walk offs you mentioned were probably the best of this era

The Cubs were willing to spend on the 3 FA’s via extensions - only to be turned down. I don’t feel for these guys at all - they effed up

Man what a dud of a season. After such a fun May too. Wrap Kimbrel in a bubble, don't even think about pitching him in back to back games

Time to fire the hitting coach, says Chili Davis

Poor Chili. We all really thought he sucked and it turned out he was just a victim of sequencing because it was just the first of several years they were all awful.
