Very nice. I am happy with the right handed options for the pen, but there's not as many lefties who I feel comfortable with, at least in the short term. Brailyn and Caraway aren't likely to be options in April/May.

I'm curious if we see a veteran righty like Jeffress brought in too, or even Jeffress himself. Overall this should be a solid group, and get really fun when one or more of Marquez/Caraway/Rodriguez/Roberts get the call.

Chafin will join Kimbrel and Winkler as bullpen "locks" who cannot be optioned.

 

Assuming that the Cubs don't carry either Fenter, Maples, or Underwood (all also not optionable), that leaves 5 of 8 bullpen spots to be filled by optionable guys, such as:

 

Adam

Holder

Norwood

Ryan

Stewart

Stock

Wick

Wieck

 

Even though Wick is optionable, I don't see him getting yoyo-ed.

 

Still, could be a lot of traffic on the Iowa shuttle this year.

I'm a fan of this. I liked the acquisition at the deadline and he's been good over the years. If he's over his injury then he's a solid left for the pen, especially if Kyle Ryan can't figure it out.

Traded for him at the deadline while he was on IL. He came back at the tail end of the season, pitched just 3 innings.
