If you want to play conservatively and win you can’t make any mistakes. Open up Mitch and you’ll get that. Mitch doesn’t and won’t ever have a good football mind.

Right Mitch will make mistakes with an opened up offense but your hope is that there will be enough good to offset it. It was against bottom feeding defenses but it doesn’t seem like Nagy buys into Mitch’s improvement since he reined it back considerably as soon as a decent defense came along.

A lot to unpack here but overall to me it confirms what I didn’t want it to confirm about the bears. As I always say I’m not a football expert so I’m willing to have my mind changed.

Man this 7th playoff spot is a godsend for the Bears. If they had this during Lovie Smith’s tenure he’d still be coaching the Bears

This may be the least I've ever cared that a team I followed made the playoffs.

I spent half the season trying to ignore this team lol. I probably logged more time watching Red Zone during Bears games. But I’m still a Bears fan and playoffs are rare for us so I’m somewhat excited. Until kickoff at least

so now we hope for a Saturday game right

I'm not sure I want to ruin my Sunday that way. Might be better to roll it all into the Sunday Night Blahs and have a crappy Monday instead

Alvin Kamara can't play if the game is Saturday. Can if Sunday.

I don’t know if this is what Spongeworthy was referring to but also the Saturday Night wild card game is known for having upsets

The more I think about it, the more that report about Nagy regaining significant influence in playcalling bothers me. If that’s true, it’s possible that what Lazor was doing was actually working and Nagy trying to take over again is horsefeathering things up. I thought the playcalling last week seemed different than what we saw against Houston and Minnesota. Yes they scored 41 but it was a more conservative game plan with short passes. If what Lazor was doing was working why would Nagy horsefeathers that up, like he can’t handle someone else getting the credit for fixing his offense.

Maybe I’m looking at it too black and white. Clearly Nagy as head coach is always going to be heavily involved in the offensive game plan, so maybe the Bears just played some terrible bottom feeding defenses and now they aren’t

No, that is 100% THE ISSUE. Somehow, Matt Nagy lost his ability to craft an offense. Lazor could, and by the way, MN had a pretty good defense.

To think the Bears aren’t even the least deserving playoff team in the NFC.

No matter who wins tonight, the AFC will have 5 teams in the playoffs who have lost 5 or fewer games. The NFC will have 2 teams that lost at least 5 straight games. The Giants actually started 0-5. LOL

Has an NFL coach or GM ever been fired after going to the playoffs?

Several:

Tony Dungy - 2001

Marty Schottenheimer - 2006 (after going 14-2, lol)

Mike Mularkey - 2017

Lovie Smith - 2012
