Auburn fires Malzahn. 21.45 M buyout. 50% due in 30 days

Time for Freeze to return to the SEC

I'm not familiar with SEC football but firing Gus strikes me as a horsefeathering stupid decision.

He was 7-18 against Bama, LSU, and Georgia. If your goal is to win a title you need to be doing better than that. This was his 8th season there. Things get stale after a while.

Cristobal seems to be a name that would make sense. Although some speculate he is holding out for Saban’s retirement. Auburn fans are all in on Freeze right now apparently.

Yeah, Gus’ teams always have been as talented as anyone but his teams typically horsefeathers the bed at least once a season. They’ve been a beneficiary of some miraculous luck in the few times they’ve beaten their rivals. Defenses in the conference have caught up to his RPO offense. Auburn fans have wanted him gone for awhile.

Notre Dame DC Clark Lea getting the Vanderbilt job. He's from Nashville and played at Vandy so that always made a ton of sense for Vandy.

An Indiana/Iowa matchup not happening is a joke.

Doesn't matter. IU/Purdue is cancelled. Cases on both sides.

Mustache man confirms

Didn't even get to the first bowl before one was canceled.

UTSA will now play in the First Responder Bowl on 12/26 and has become the first college football team in history to earn 2 separate bowl bids in 1 season.

First conference title game down. Bummed for Coastal, which could theoretically have earned a New Year's 6 game with a win.

I am rooting for Alabama, Notre Dame, and Northwestern tomorrow. Yikes, that was hard to type.

Granting that Northwestern is going to get demolished, It would be really interesting. You can't possibly keep Ohio State where they are, nor can you keep Clemson twice beaten by ND in line for a 3rd chance in a championship. I guess it would be whoever wins the Big XII title game based on how they set up the rankings, but it should really be Cincinnati, even with their shitty schedule.

Taking that hard a stance is something you do when you already are pretty sure it will work out. I'm guessing ultimately some sort of deal is made with the Rose Bowl, whether it be allowing parents or the semifinal moving.

Of course, ND needs to win to play in that one; if they lose tomorrow best case scenario is likely Alabama in the Sugar Bowl, which isn't disallowing families but is far more likely to end poorly.

Players will opt to not expose their family to what would happen against Bama
