BC has announced it's opting out of playing in a bowl game. Wondered if we'd see some teams do that. (Not counting LSU's hilarious self-imposed bowl ban.)

From a program prospective, it seems you would absolutely want the bowl game for a myriad of reasons: funding, recruiting exposure, rewards for the players, and the extra 14 practices or whatever it is you get.

BC's head coach pointed out that the real 'rewards' of the bowl trips usually revolve around a nice trip somewhere with friends and/or family. Events are usually held in the days leading up to the game that the players can have some fun being part of. Since basically none of those things are in play this year, there's not as much draw. I completely understand the idea. I doubt any of us really know how tough this fall has been on CFB players.

Holy Crap!!! But of course...there was a flag

Pretty clear forward lateral in there. I wonder what the call would have been if not forward. Both teams were on the field, obviously Ball St first and most. I'm assuming both teams would have been called for too many men on the field, and they would have to do the play again untimed, but not even sure. Also not sure all the guys trying to make the tackle were actually on the field when the play started. Same for blockers/lateral-ers.

The only people happier for that flag than Ball State fans were the refs themselves. They are thrilled to have avoided your scenario.

I could tell there was a forward lateral early so it wouldn't count, but still pretty freaking crazy to see it all unfold after that.

As if that wasn't enough, the ESPN+ feed cut to a "technical difficulties" screen as the refs were announcing the penalty call and never came back.

12 years ago, BSU went into the MAC title game unbeaten and ranked #12 and a Murphy's Law game in Buffalo's favor ensued. Time for some revenge.

What are the odds?

Michael Carter and Javonte Williams combined ran for 544 yards today for North Carolina.

Michael Carter-Williams scored a total of 544 points as a basketball player at Syracuse.

Odds are pretty slim considering they broke the record for most combined yardage by any pair of RBs in NCAA history.

Florida might have torpedoed their playoff chances because some dumb CB threw a shoe. Tie game, 2 minutes left, Florida gets a stop and was going to get the ball back. Shoe of an LSU player comes off and Florida player throws it downfield. LSU still driving right now.

Jeeeez SEC refs....

Mississippi State player is potentially paralyzed. Doesn’t move (still hasn’t) for 15 minutes. He’s on the stretcher being carted off the field heading toward a chopper and the refs come up and announce that after booth review he has been ejected from the game for targeting.

That Florida loss locks Bama in to the playoff, right?

Let's say Clemson beats ND and OSU wins, those three are probably in. You can't put aTm in over Bama. You're not putting a 2-loss Big 12 champ. USC would be 6-0 with at least three of those being close. You've got Cincinnati undefeated but the committee moved Iowa State above them last week so they'd need Iowa State to lose and even that probably wouldn't be enough.

So it's probably Bama-Clemson-ND-OSU if Clemson wins and Bama-ND-OSU-aTm if Notre Dame wins (assuming OSU wins).

Bama could have lost the title game and still gotten into the playoffs IMO. They are clearly the best team in the country and it isn’t particularly close

Oh they definitely could have anyway. Had Florida won today, Florida beats Bama close, OSU wins, ND wins and it’s Florida, Bama, ND, OSU. Or if Clemson hammers ND, Bama gets in over ND.

It’s just that this seems to solidify it. I mean, I guess if they lose by 30 they could be left out but that isn’t going to happen.

If OSU and USC win out, why is OSU a lock for the playoffs while USC isn't being considered at all?

Because USC is ambiguous, so the votes get split.

Sorry for the flippant answer, but is this a real question anyway?
