Mustache man about to have some sad, sad news :-(

Too bad, I think you could've taken them. I haven't been impressed.

Somewhat on topic, my goodness has CBS been hosed this year. Feels like they're losing an SEC game every week and the ones they keep aren't any good. I'm sure many SEC fans view that as karma of sorts for refusing to pony up more cash after they expanded to 14 teams.

TAMU certainly seemed to be a winnable game. Ole Miss’ offense gives them a chance to win any game. As bad as the Rebels defense is, I’m not sure the Aggies would win a shootout.

I feel very confident in the LSU game on the 19th. I wouldn’t be surprised if LSU finds a way to duck out. They got smoked last week and Florida will smoke them this week. Ending the season with 3 or 4 straight blowouts would be a bad look. If LSU does duck out, then apparently there is a contingency in place for Ole Miss to play TAMU that weekend.

What is the signature win for this Ole Miss season?

What is the signature win for this Ole Miss season?

Is that supposed to be a gotcha? Ole Miss hasn't been blown out by anyone despite having literally the worst defense in the league. Their offense gives them a chance to win every game. TAMU's offense is middle of the pack in the SEC (OM: 563 yds a game v AM: 429 yds a game), so I think Ole Miss would have had a chance to win a shootout.

I certainly don't have any grand misconceptions about A&M but I was just curious why you were so confident since I didn't see any good wins on your schedule. We've put up 40+ points 3 times and have a pretty good defense.

I’m curious why you think I was confident? I said it “seems winnable” as opposed to “doesn’t seem winnable”.

I did say I was confident in LSU, which I absolutely am. Perhaps you thought I was still referring to TAMU.

Mustache man delivers the news

Luckily for the B1G, the ACC has already broken the seal on 'eh, screw what we said before' decisions, so they can go ahead and ignore their previously-discussed 6-game minimum.

Texas A&M, your table is ready

I think we should figure out a way to play tOSU like BYU & Coastal Carolina did. Either way someone will likely earn a playoff berth with a win.

It would be good for Ohio State, too. There’s no rule that says they have to win the Big Ten championship to go to the playoff. A 6-0 O$U with wins over Indiana and TAMU is a playoff caliber team.

A 5-0 Ohio State team is a playoff caliber team.

They have the win over Indiana which is nice but if they only play 5 games that may hurt them when it comes to playoff discussion. If they don't play in the Big Ten championship does the conference get two teams in? Or does Ohio State go over whoever wins the championship game? All this probably is moot as I expect the conference to bend their rules and let the Buckeyes play anyway but it's interesting to think about.

Ohio State is probably safely in as long as they don't lose and Alabama beats Florida (or ND beats Clemson).

The debate starts if it's 10-1 ND or 6-0 Ohio State without a win the caliber of Clemson, especially if OSU wasn't a league champion. (Not to mention 8-1 Texas A&M, which would surely throw its hat in the ring.) The side arguing that conference championships and more data points don't matter would be dripping with irony at that point.

I just meant in the sense that they are clearly one of the best 4 teams in the nation, without any more games. I understand if it's not enough for the committee to pick them, but they seem to be pretty good at picking the actual best teams. But yeah, the B1G would be stupid not to do whatever it can to get Ohio St in the playoff.

Yes, that would be a real head-scratcher deciding between Ohio State and Indiana or Northwestern.

ETA: Ohio State will play another game on the 19th regardless of whether they're declared eligible for the Big Ten title game. The difference between Northwestern and Iowa is negligible.

OSU should play TAMU this weekend. Winner goes to playoffs.

Fully endorse this as a Notre Dame fan.

I fully endorse it as an A&M fan. I'd rather lose that game and know we didn't belong in the playoffs than get left out at #5 wondering if we were good enough.
